13.01.2022 Today is #HumanTrafficking Awareness Day. What if every person in your community knew about human trafficking and how to report it? What if every hotel, airpor...t, and bus stop was filled with potentially life-saving hotline information? What if every frontline professional was trained how to identify human trafficking? What if every school equipped students to safeguard themselves? What if every person enslaved was set free? What if we told you that all of this was possible? To end human trafficking, it’s going to take all of us, but it starts with you. Learn how you can be a part of the solution at A21.Org

11.01.2022 Week 5 of our self defence course is undoubtedly the toughest. Students are taken well out of their comfort zones and made to work under pressure and attempt to utilise the skills and knowledge that they have learnt so far. This is also the week that our trained male instructors come in, including our full contact suit. Well done to everyone on yesterdays session and thank you as always to our committed instructors who are tough yet encouraging. ... #selfdefencecourse

11.01.2022 My favourite kick drill A good cardio hit to do sets of these bad boys but also love the challenge of trying to hold balance, generate power and move the hips quickly. Fun drill to practise on a bag or with a partner.

10.01.2022 We asked our members to describe our training environment in a few shorts words.... When I first started Females Fighting Forward it was my mission to create a fun, welcoming yet challenging environment - at the time (that makes me sound older than I am ) many females were too intimidated to step foot into a Martial Arts gym and if they did, they rarely went back after the first lesson. We are proud that our membership base at Boars Martial Arts is dead equal between mal...es and females, including our instructors. We all train hard and follow the same rules. #martialarts

07.01.2022 Holding my goals close to me this year as a trainer and sharing them to stay accountable to myself and to my martial arts family. I look forward to a year of growth and development for both me and my students. My 2021 mantra: anyone can make you tired but it takes a good coach to make you better. to continually learn and better myself. ... teach technique first, speed & power will come. be stern but fair. if you work hard, I’ll work hard with you. to never jeopardise our culture, if we’re not the right fit, I’ll be the first person to let you know. We’ve got a friendly and welcoming training environment BUT we’re big on respect, team work and control.... inside and outside of our club. It’s not for everyone but I will welcome anyone to give it a go and if our values align... your journey becomes my journey too, regardless of your age or ability. 05.01.2022 Restrictions For a moment, consider this, consider your life without restrictions... everyday we restrict ourselves, I want to run across that field, oh hold o...n! My back is tight, I might pull a muscle, I haven’t run in years! In one thought of just running across the field, you put 3 restrictions on yourself.. imagine how many others you are putting on yourself, unconsciously! By saying I can’t or this might happen or or or!! Start to eliminate the restrictions that are an illusion, like the elephant with the chain that isn’t holding him back, other than his mind. Set free your restricted self and see what happens!! See more

03.01.2022 It has been decided that the August student of the month is Victoria Joanna Giannopoulos! Victoria, also known around the club as Tia, has been a member of Females Fighting Forward since 2015. With a strong work ethic, Victoria has shown her value to the FFF team not just with her honed technique, but with her #dedication and #knowledge of the sport. Always willing to help others, she demonstrates all of our values at the club: respect, discipline, focus.... We asked Victoria some questions about her experiences during her time at Females Fighting Forward! How did you get into Martial Arts? I have always been active since being a kid, but I never thought I would participate in Martial Arts. I did my first Muay Thai class in year 10 PE and soon after gained an interest, but it wasnt until a year later that I joined FFF. I have always been involved with dancing (calisthenics and hip hop) so joining FFF and being in a totally different sporting environment was way out of my comfort zone. Whats your favourite thing about training in Muay Thai? There is always something new to learn and improve on every week alongside being surrounded by the most friendly and supportive people. What do you enjoy doing outside of training? I am currently not working and in the process of looking for a job, but in my spare time I work out at home. Congratulations again Victoria! #femalesfightingforward #studentofthemonth #muaythai #martialarts

03.01.2022 A face that we all know and love. Margie is our self defence course facilitator and assistant muay thai instructor. Margie is an experienced martial artist and self defence instructor who started training with us at Boars in 2003 in karate and kickboxing after watching her kids train and began assisting me at Females Fighting Forward in 2013, since the very beginning. Margie is a friendly and welcoming instructor but also holds a stern and realistic approach, which is what ...we're about here. Margie is a Shihan in karate and holds a 4th Dan blackbelt. Margie's self defence experiences ranges to teaching self defence to teenage survivors of sex trafficking in SE Asia (Thailand, Cambodia, Philippines) and also their caretakers, social workers and rescuers in aftercare homes - an amazing woman to say the least! No certificate can grant this kind of qualification, our instructors have extensive experience in what they teach and preach

03.01.2022 100% Our next self defence course kicks off in a couple of weeks, we're pumped. Keen to get involved? Chuck us a message

03.01.2022 Our June STUDENT OF THE MONTH was awarded to Nafsika Marouli Naf is a 30 year old accountant who moved here from Athens, Greece. Naf is always one of the hardest workers in the room and is constantly striving to perfect her technique and better her fitness. Her consistency with attending training is impressive. We asked Naf a few questions about her martial arts journey ... Why did you start Muay Thai? I like being active but I also get bored easily, so going to the gym is not for me. I always wanted to get into martial arts, so I did a bit of research and I decided to give Muay Thai a go. What keeps you coming back? It is the amazing environment at FFF that makes all the difference. I don't even see it as exercising anymore. It is my me time. When I step on the mats all the worries fade away. Do you have any goals for the next 12 months? Yes, to stop procrastinating. I want to create a clear plan for my professional development and commit to it. #studentofthemonth

02.01.2022 Week 2 of our womens self defence course facilitated by Margie Nottle In week 2 our participants focus on revising the striking and basic grips & locks from week 1 while working with more pressure and intensity. Participants also learn to deal with new attacks from behind. Interested in getting involved? Email us to register your interest for our next course ... [email protected] #selfdefence #6weekcourse

02.01.2022 "I am a strong woman because a strong woman raised me" My mother is one of the hardest working individuals I know. Behind her hilarious, easy-going and kind nature is a woman that works hard day in and day out in her businesses and still has the energy to love and constantly support her family and our crazy lives. This woman really is the support pole that keeps us held upright. For everyone around our club, you know her as 'Jayno'. ... MP Visuals

01.01.2022 JULY MEMBER OF THE MONTH This month we would like to award it to our young junior, Daisy. Daisy is very much a quiet-achiever but she certainly stands out in a class. At only 14 years of age, Daisy has the skills, work ethic and respect that most adults should aspire to. She ALWAYS trains hard, focuses on her technique and will support and teach her training partners if they have less experience than her. Daisy is always respectful of everyone around her and is like a spo...nge and soaks up any feedback that she's given. We asked Daisy some questions about her journey How did you get into Martial Arts? I got into martial arts when I was about 10 years old. I said to dad that I wanted to do a sport that would help me get fit and he said that he had done Thai boxing when he was young and that he could teach me if I was up for it. Whats your favourite thing about training in Muay Thai? I enjoy training because I like knowing that I have done my best and I can go home feeling happy. I also like it because when I eat sugar I can always say Its alright, Ill work it off at Thai boxing Why do you enjoy our classes? I enjoy the classes because they make me work hard and when I know Ive had an off night, I have something to think about the next time I go. What do you enjoy doing outside of school & training? I do horse riding on a Saturday for 4 hours and then on a Wednesday for about 3 and a half hours. After Saturday horse riding I have archery and I am the state champion for my age group of the type of bow that I shoot. Nice work Daisy! Looking forward to watching you continue to progress #studentofthemonth
