21.01.2022 One statement I trust myself keeps the needle facing north along with CONFIDENCE which has more to do with MINDSET I am of Maori descent from New Zealand. Te taangata whenua Aotearoa, the indigenous people of New Zealand. I lived in a small town near the top of the North Island. My playground was running around the paddocks, climbing trees, swimming in the creeks or rivers and playing under the waterfalls. The aroma of sweetness and freshness and purity. I absolutely l...oved my childhood. Along with having my grandparents around me being draped in the wairua of my tupuna. (The spirits of my ancestors). I absolutely loved my childhood. I was this little girl living my feminine core. Bang just like that one day all that was gone, the lens of my landscape flipped. When I was 11 years old, my mother was taken from me in a fatal accident. Shortly thereafter, entered the stepmother from hell with her cohort. That feminine girl in my mind just laid down and simply shut the door with a sense of Loss/grief Fear Darkness Insecurity Out of sight, out of mind So she created her first warrior mask to protect it her, but did it - "The behavior is not the person" I share a snippet of my story with you because I know now my life didn't happen to me. It happened for me. I am a mindset coach working with career driven people, it doesn't strictly mean you are in a corporate role. If you've got drive, you know you want more and you're continuously finding yourself not moving out of where you are now and therefore not heading to where you want to be. 16.01.2022 Time to tackle some common myths around growth mindset There are so many misconceptions about mindset work. We all get those moments and we get started but for some they might find it overwhelming. So let's have a look at the 3 common myths around mindset work. Myth #1: Adopting a growth mindset is difficult to the point of being hard! ... Changing how you think may seem very challenging, moving and thinking from not so good to great may feel like challenging task. But here is the think it is not impossible. Our brain is like a muscle, so like every other muscle in you body you can train it. Developing a growth mindset is an exercise for your brain, you will be training it to work more effectively for you. Just like cardio, a little daily practice leads to big changes. Myth #2: You must be happy all the time!! These days, with all the pressures to be positive all the time. When you force happiness this means you are ignoring your feelings. And that's not healthy. To have a growth mindset is it about developing self-awareness. The more Self-aware people are the more in tune they are with their feelings. Mindset work teaches you to listen to your inner voice. Don’t bottle your emotions. Embrace them! Mindset work does bring natural positivity in many ways. Gratitude and affirmations release dopamine in your brain, the pleasure drug that causes happy feelings. No, you don’t have to pretend to be positive. But a daily mindset practice will increase your positivity! Myth #3: Mindset work is spiritual!! Some people are very spiritual. But, not everyone has spiritual tendencies. 05.01.2022 How Deep do you Dive? So your sitting there asking lots of questions Why am I not happy? Why am I not satisfied?... Why do I end up in this spot again and again? But are these the right questions, are they going to make you move your train of thought, shift you out of the muck. One of the first things you really need to do is stop using all the external reasons as your excuses. Asking "WHY" questions the majority of the time results in judgment responses that are probably not helpful at all So let's change up the question What it is that makes me unhappy? Where am I not satisfied? How do I always end up back here? Now it is time to look inside and be honest with yourself, truly honest with yourself. After all only you will know so that's ok isn't it, or is that the real problem You may just find, when you truly allow yourself, you can see other possibilities, other ways to get results Having spent many years asking myself "WHY" questions I could only see things one way and later discovered while learning to dig deep what was going on. I had been focusing on desires, dreams and goals for some-thing/one else not for me. I was being praised and rewarded along the way to fulfill the goals of others and I forgot what my dreams and desires were. Shifting out of patterns and behaviours that kept holding me back and instilling new standards I was able emerge into my true potential. 05.01.2022 Difficulty owning our own reality!! I am reading this book at the moment there is part that reads like this; Our reality has four parts The body: How we look and how our bodies are operating Thinking: How we give meaning to incoming data... Feelings: Our emotions Behaviour: what we do or don’t do But when we have trouble owing some or all of these parts we can do it like this The body: Seeing our appearance accurately or being aware of how are bodies are operating Thinking: Difficulty knowing what our thoughts are and if we know, not being able to share them. Also giving skewed interpretations to incoming data Feelings: Difficulty knowing what we are feeling, or feeling overwhelming emotions Behaviour: Difficulty being aware of what we do or don’t do, or if we are aware, difficulty owning our behaviour and its impact on others This so resonated with me because that’s exactly where I was just over 2 years ago. Not taking any responsibility for how overweight I was and therefore unhealthy Not knowing how to express myself so people understood, feeling overwhelmed in my sullen emotions Not taking responsibility for my behaviour and especially how it played out on those I loved the most When I finally reached out for help I had to change, wasn’t quite sure how but I just knew I had to do it and I had to do it now. My family mean the world to me so I knew exactly what the value was investing in myself To work on me to become a better person was and has been priceless. I had already wasted 10 years more than I needed to make the decision, 2 years ago. That was the only question I had left to answer when I said yes to me.
