16.01.2022 Information from DET which I will keep updating as I know more. Please be mindful that this information is changing daily. We will do all we can to keep families informed. COVID-19: advice for early childhood education services Dear colleagues,... As stated in the message from Minister Merlino and Jenny Atta yesterday, your ongoing education and care of Victorian children, support for families, and the efforts of your dedicated staff are sincerely appreciated during this very challenging time. Our Department continues to work closely with health authorities in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, and I will continue to keep you informed about any new impacts on early childhood education and care services. Closures Most early childhood education and care services in Victoria continue to operate as usual, in line with the latest advice from Victoria’s Chief Health Officer. If your service is directed to close as a preventative measure, you will be advised directly and given detailed advice and communication resources to support you through this process. As per previous advice, if you believe a child or staff member at your service has a confirmed case of coronavirus (COVID-19) or is in close contact to someone who does, please seek advice from the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) on 1300 651 160. You also need to lodge a notification with our Quality Assessment and Regulation Division (QARD). Action you can take now Please refer to the DHHS website for the latest information about coronavirus (COVID-19) in Victoria. The website also has useful resources including information about coronavirus (COVID-19), a self-assessment tool, and printable posters promoting good hygiene practices (Poster wash hands and Poster cough and sneeze). I encourage you all to take care of yourselves, your own families and your colleagues. The Beyond Blue website has advice on looking after your mental health at this time. Please refer to the Department’s coronavirus web page for the latest advice and information for early childhood education and care services. For advice on early childhood regulatory matters, please contact QARD on 1300 307 415.

11.01.2022 Hi Families, Thank you for your patience and understanding over the past week or so. With information and direction in our industry being so fluid at the moment it has been tricky to keep up. ... Fernhill community should be commended for their resilience at this time. Currently teaching staff are working on ways to ensure we keep up our connections with families and to assist you with remote learning should we be advised that kindergartens will be closed after the holidays. Please keep an eye on your emails as this will be our main way to communicate with you should this occur. For now, please rest. Social distancing and isolation are very important at the moment and will give us all the opportunity to spend time together in ways we never have before. Read to your child, sing with them, play board games and say silly rhymes. Make cupcakes, go in your backyards and jump in puddles, look for bugs and pull out some weeds. But remember to pace yourself, look after yourself and rest. We will be in touch after the school holidays. Enjoy the break everyone. Happy Easter, happy holidays!

11.01.2022 Attention all Families, We will remain open at this stage until Friday and will proceed to have normal 4 yo and 3 yo sessions for our last week, despite all the confusion over the last 24 hours. Our management are working very hard to keep us in the loop daily as to what they and DET decide for our Preschools. All we can do at this stage is be open to families that need us. Please circulate this information to those Preschool families that you know. If you are choosing to stay away or are sick we will notify you as soon as we know when we will be back next term. Please look after yourselves and feel free to call us if you need any further information. The staff at Fernhill Preschool

No Easter holiday is worth a life. Stay home. Protect the health system. Save lives. 05.01.2022 Here is an Easter game idea that includes outdoor physical activity which is important for all young children (even in this weather). More to come on this. Carrot Toss .... . Nothing like a little bit of healthy competition for the little ones this bank holiday while on lock down . I up cycled an old cardboard box I had in the garage in to a rabbit. We had a bag of old carrots in the fridge so used these to throw. They used lots of counting skills counting how many carrots they got in to the hole cut out on the top of the box . Great activity to do in or outdoors. . . #invitationtoplay #montessoritoddler #toddler #toddlersofinstagram #montessoriathome #toddleractivitiesathome #easteractivities #toddlerplay #finemotorskills #looseparts #learningathome #openendedplay #naturalresources #letsplay #learningresources #networking #follow #kidsofinstgram #letthemplay #natureplay #activitiesforkids #kidunplugged #homeeducation #playbasedlearning #playmatters #earlychildhoodeducation #getthemoutside #earlyyearsideas #activitiesforkids #earlyyearsoutdoors
