25.01.2022 At the beginning of 2020, we decided as a firm that we wanted to give back in some way and were very fortunate to have the opportunity to offer our services pro bono with the Cancer Council Pro Bono Program. Today we are honored and grateful to provide a snapshot of what we have achieved in the past 6 months and that is over 27 hours of free legal work. We look forward to continuing this journey with the Cancer Council into the new financial year.

24.01.2022 FIRST HOME OWNER GRANT The First Home Owner Grant (FHOG) of $20,000 for new home purchases in regional Victoria has been extended to 30 June 2021. This means it is available for contracts entered into between 1 July 2017 and 30 June 2021. First home buyers of new homes in metropolitan Melbourne will continue to receive the $10,000 FHOG amount. The regional FHOG is available to first home buyers who purchase a new home valued up to $750,000 in regional Victoria. The purchased ...property must be used as their primary place of residence for a continuous period of 12 months, commencing within 12 months of completing the eligible transaction. Having regard to advice from the Australian Government and world health authorities, we have implemented a number of preventive measures designed to limit the risk of spreading the virus and ensure that we can continue to service your needs 1. IP Australia the government agency that administers intellectual property rights - ruled against Beckham stating it was "not satisfied that any confusion" would arise between the Sydney companys logos and Ms Beckhams own VB trademark. 03.01.2022 STAMP DUTY CHANGES: A significant land transfer duty waiver of up to 50% applies to the purchase of a new or established Victorian residential property with a dutiable value of up to $1 million, where a contract is signed on or after 25 November 2020 and before 1 July 2021. 03.01.2022 Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the bankruptcy law regulations were as follows: The minimum debt threshold to trigger bankruptcy was $5,000 and the time that an individual had to respond to a bankruptcy was 21 days. During the pandemic, the Australian Government announced changes as part of the economic response to the pandemic. These changes were:... The minimum debt threshold to trigger bankruptcy was $20,000 and the time that an individual had to respond to a bankruptcy was six months. AS OF 1 JANUARY 2021, these relief measures have come to an end and a permanent amendment has been made to the minimum amount of the debt threshold. The current regulations are: The minimum debt threshold to trigger bankruptcy is $10,000 and the time that an individual had to respond to a bankruptcy is 21 days.

02.01.2022 The Federal Government has passed temporary amendments to insolvency and corporations laws in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. These changes are aimed at protecting many otherwise profitable and viable businesses to assist these businesses to continue operating. The changes are contained in the Coronavirus Economic Response Package Omnibus Act 2020 (Cth). Some of the changes include:... Directors will be temporarily relieved from the risk of personal liability for insolvent trading with respect to debts which are incurred in the ordinary course of business. For both personal and corporate insolvency matters, the government is increasing the minimum threshold at which creditors can issue a statutory demand (an increase from $2,000 to $20,000) and a bankruptcy notice (an increase from $5,000 to $20,000). Further, the time periods for response have increased from 21 days to 6 months. These measures will operate for a six month period starting on 25 March 2020.
