18.01.2022 I spoke to the ABC yesterday about an issue arising from the legalisation of same-sex marriage. The question is, essentially, whether same-sex marriages between... Australians that took place overseas prior to 9 December 2017 were legally solemnised on 9 December 2017 or on the date of the overseas marriage. In the former case, Wills made between the date of the overseas marriage and 9 December 2017 may be revoked. In the latter case only Wills made before the date of the overseas marriage would be affected. It is a slightly technical issue but it may have considerable consequences for same-sex couples. Josh Robertsons article discusses the issue very well.
