25.01.2022 We think this special duo deserve to have their own post to highlight their amazing achievement over the weekend at the 2020 Matar Stables Bullio Cup... Hannah Mitchell and Fieryrange owned and trained Sahara Park Miss Rubicon have been paired up this year and completed 360kms together over 5 rides. Hannah has piloted Ruby in everyone of her endurance rides and has played a huge part in introducing Ruby to the sport. This past weekend both Hannah and Ruby took a stab at the... 120km event in an attempt to complete their longest distance to date, both absolutely blitzed it and we couldn't be more proud of the both of them! we look forward to seeing this duo continue to kick goals and we are excited to cheer them on at the 2020 NSW State Championships in the coming weeks when they attempt there first 160km! We are all so proud of you Hannah for kicking some major goals this year and the way you look after and manage Ruby every ride, You are a true asset to this team and we appreciate all that you do.

18.01.2022 Matar Stables Bullio Cup... Always an extraordinary and exceptional event! A huge thank you to the entire OC and Matar Stables for the ongoing support of Endurance in Australia! This year was filled with some highs and lows for our team. ... Sahara Park Miss Rubicon and Hannah blitzed the tough course like true professionals and came home looking a million dollars. Beyond proud of these two, it has been a pleasure watching them grow together since March and we can't wait to see what they achieve together in the future! Coolinda Park Winston looked after Hayley Iggo in her second 40km, even in his more excitable moments. Congratulations Hayley! 80km next?! Wickwood Badira blitzed around a 100km and retired strong after Jodi had a fall. Charadia Zignzag with Belinda Hollingsworth and Wickwood Dark Rose with Louise Stevens were sadly unsuccessful after the challenging 80km but are both sound and looking fantastic now. I made the tough but very easy decision to withdraw Berwick Royal Music after 110km as she was tiring quickly in the heavy going. This young mare gave me her all and handled the quick pace of 18.5kph+ like it was a stroll in the park and we withdrew with a vet card of As and 1s, sound and happy in mind and body, ready to go again within hours. Honey Bee and her exceptional rider Sorsha Stuart-Rokvic flew beside me for 100km, never faltering or hesitating, with Honey eating and drinking at every opportunity. It came as a shock after passing the 3rd loop vetting with flying colours that she returned to camp uncomfortable, we immediately withdrew her and sought veterinary care. She is well on the road to recovery and the cause has been attributed to an unlucky roll of the dice and due to no fault of any of her preparation nor the speed at which she keenly competed at. 15.01.2022 Save our Brumbies Living and working in the foothills of the Snowy Mountains of NSW we have a front seat to the health of our ecosystems in this area. We have a front seat to the rampant destruction of wild pigs, deer and humans. The slaughter induced by wild dogs, foxes and cats. The horrific mismanagement of fuel loads causing infernos on scales never before seen in living memory. We see the mountain stockmen moved out with their stock and cool fires, we see the slow ...decline of native flora and fauna as the parks are locked up and the vegetation chokes itself out like an overgrown garden and the predatory species take over unchecked. Amidst all of that are the wild horses - brumbies. It is clear to see where they run, there is short green grass that the few remaining wallabies and kangaroos share with them. The water runs crystal clear aside from the deer wallows or where the pigs have dug in search of frogs and small mammals or where the humans have been defecating and driving their vehicles. The brumbies are not locked into an area and will move to fresh pasture and not continually stay in the same paddock as our domestic horses are forced to do, allowing the environment to heal and grow again. In both of the horrendous fire storms of my life, 2003 and 2020 - Long Plain for the most part, did not burn. Thanks in many parts to brumbies, keeping the vegetation in check to some small, but significant, amount. Many brumbies did not survive as the fires roared up into the ranges at lightning speed leaving nothing in its wake. The mountain stockmen managed the land as well as the brumbies while they were allowed - keeping the quality up and the numbers at a good level - now that is only allowed to be done by men in uniforms following a "guideline" from men with degrees and textbooks and no real life experience of the mountain ecosystem and how it functions optimally. Its not about being just a horse or animal lover - its about the environment - its about our heritage - its about the greater good. Owned and bred by Von Mitchell - Diva is a dream come true in every way... From the moment she began her preparation for this ride Diva has been determined and tackled everything with enthusiasm, qualities she put forth in spades over the weekend, getting stronger with every passing kilometre she is a true superstar in the making. She is royally bred, from the champion Dam Kurrajong Concorde/Yamamah and sired by Kevisan Park Kentucky Blue. We look forward to seeing her shine again soon!

14.01.2022 The Covid Derby With Covid restrictions in place for many all around the world it meant alot of team sports and outdoor activities were being put on hold whilst we navigated through Covid... An idea of a virtual derby had come to fruition, 1000kms in 30 days. A way to help get people back outdoors and active again. It was also a great opportunity to raise awareness and funds for COOL EARTH.. ... The derby was a welcomed challenge for 4 Australian endurance riders from 4 different states to come together and form the Aussie Allstars team.. Trish from Tassie, Julie from SA, Erin from VIC and Noni from NSW all worked together smashing out 1000kms in 11 days to bring home 2nd place in the equestrian division and 4th overall out of 203 competitors from 16 countries.. on the 11th day all ladies saddled up at the same time and knocked out their last 20kms together, in a sense all crossing the finish line together whilst holding hands.. a massive congrats guys! 2nd place in the Covid Derby https://www.covidderby.com/racereport/aussie-allstars

08.01.2022 Matar Stables Bullio Qualifier - Bondo Forest 2020 Rallying together we pulled off another challenge! Organising an entire event in a week and a half to fill a crucial gap in the NSW endurance calendar... We also took a tiny team of just 4 horses to the event - all successfully completing their rides. ... Hannah Mitchell riding Sahara Park Miss Rubicon in the Saturday 40km alongside her partner Sam Trainor riding Berwick The Patriot - aka Barry (trained by Tracy John) Hannah and Sam then kindly gave up their Sunday to volunteer on a checkpoint, thank you both! In the Sunday events we had a new rider to the team and sport Hayley Iggo who rode Barry (Berwick The Patriot) around another 40km for her first successful completion! Congratulations Hayley! In the 85km Sorsha Stuart-Rokvic piloted Charadia Zignzag to a perfect completion. Jodi Dewick on her homebred Wickwood Dark Rose successfully completed Rose's 2nd novice ride. And last but not least the dynamic duo Kaitlyn Mercieca on Coolinda Park Sheeza Doll breezed around in fine form. 07.01.2022 It's a cold snowy day today up at Fieryrange.. the snow is starting to stick and the horses are enjoying their morning hoon around the paddock. 07.01.2022 To say that we are so proud of this girl would be an understatement! As some of you know Tahnaya Mercieca was involved in a quad bike accident this year and badly injured her back, leaving her in a back brace. Last weekend was Tahnaya’s first ride back.. she took the time to heal and re strengthen her back, and was then given the all clear to start riding again. In classic Tahnaya style, she confidently went straight into entering the 80km ride... not only did she cruise around and complete, she came in and nabbed 2nd place JNR... Tahnaya presented the next day also winning fittest horse... we are so proud of the young lady you are maturing into and the amazing young trainer you are becoming.. well done love on a great successful first ride back.. we look forward to seeing you continue to grow. X

06.01.2022 Fieryrange is situated in the middle of the beautiful Brindabellas in NSW, we are lucky to have access to the best training terrain in Australia, our horses are trained and conditioned to handle any climate and altitude thrown at them... The snow added to the ambiance and made for some beautiful scenery whilst out training this week. The team of horses in training are all in great condition and ready for the season to hopefully kick off again soon. 06.01.2022 Where there is a will - there is a way! Endurance people! I am seeing an increasingly large number of posts from horse owners worried they can't exercise their horses and won't be ready when things start up again... In a time of change it's time to explore your alternatives and get imaginative!... Let's get ready to get back on the competition trail as soon as we can and finish the year on a high! Can't access your usual trails because of government restrictions? Got a 10 acre paddock? You should be able to get at LEAST a 1km perimeter loop - 20 laps and there you have a 20km ride! Switch it up, do some zig zagging, reverse direction every second lap... still not as boring as watching the news for the 407th time this week...! Have a flat area or round yard? A 20 minute lunge in a lunging aid is both great exercise and fantastic for building top line! Add some trot poles for variety and extra lift! Try some flat work, great to get in tune with your horse, build a balanced body and better communication! You will be surprised how many kms you clock up in a 30 minute flat work session. Start a competition with some friends and see who can clock up the most kms in a week! Use the time to kick some of your own fitness goals! There some great videos around amongst our Endurance family who are also Personal Trainers! Most of all - stay safe - stay positive and love your horses! 05.01.2022 Well, we made it.. made it to our last ride of the season that was the 2020 NSW State Championships. This ride was a big one for us being this was our own ride and one we were on the organising committee of and were the track designers. It was a mammoth task by all involved and we thank everyone for attending and congratulate all those who were successful, and all those who gave it ago. We had 6 horses in camp over the weekend, 3 in the 85km event and 4 in the 160km Event. This ride was a true endurance ride and tested both horse and riders with the heat as an extra element.
