25.01.2022 At our community garden play group, we saw that a fruit tree has begun to bloom. The children asked me what fruit would grow. I told them I didnt know, but I was sure our playgroup host, Bob, could tell them. They excitedly ran to Bob to ask. He told them it grows a tiny peach, but usually only the possums get to feast on them! We think they are pretty lucky possums

08.01.2022 Rainbow... cookies, cupcakes, worms, ice cream, birds nests and eggs! After school imagining, happy chatter and fine-motor play.

08.01.2022 Fun fact! If you have leftover muffin mix that didn’t fit into your tray (in our case, paleo spiced apple!) you can save it to add a couple more eggs, some extra flour, baking powder and milk (we used buckwheat and almond milk); then whizz together till you achieve ‘pancake consistency’... and voilà! Amazing pikelets a couple of days later.

08.01.2022 Our first bumblebee visitor of the season! This little guy was lost in our kitchen, so we caught him, had a little look and set him free in the garden. += #FigandBeeFDC #fdc #bigheartedcare #rainbowbridgefdc #rainbowbridgefamilydaycare #bumblebee #love #normanpark

07.01.2022 Until fishing isnt successful, so we just wade in instead

07.01.2022 Fancy toys arent necessary! These are an assortment of wooden blocks. Some are offcuts dyed with simple stains, others are part of an old wooden stacking train, and some are from an alphabet block set. My two little ones played with these for an hour and a half! They built rockets, houses for imaginary gnomes, a garage and apartment buildings for fairies. Their chatter was constant as they welcomed each others ideas, and worked together to weave their imaginary world.

07.01.2022 Ready... set... GO!

04.01.2022 Look closer! We have a beautiful row of crepe myrtles in our garden, next to the deck. The children like to examine the plants for different insects. We often identify several bee species, the occasional ladybird and spiders. But this week we found new inhabitants! Fuzzy-wuzzy caterpillars! A whole... herd? Mob? Army? Hmm... And not only that, several have created cocoons! We are now watching eagerly to see what kind of butterfly will emerge

04.01.2022 What do you do when watering-in the new turf creates a river on the path? Pull up a stick and start fishing!
