As a Catholic healthcare provider myself, St Gianna Molla’s example of sacrificial love and life-giving spirit inspires my every day work in Chinese Medicine. I come across many women yearning deeply for motherhood, and in their ache, some have chosen extreme lengths in want of fulfilling that desire. Not all patients who walk through my doors are of the faith but they are all children of the Creator, made in his image and likeness. It’s so heartbreaking at times to hear what these women and families have gone through, and it’s precisely at these times I find myself leaning into the Lord and his Saints the most - to ask how I may handle these delicate matters in the most grace-filled way. His response always moves me towards being more stretched in compassion, patience and love toward the patient right in front of me. I imagine how my patron Saint, St Gianna Molla would have handled it as a physician... and I imagine she would have shown tender compassion and guidance for her patients, a life-giving kind of hope and understanding. 05.01.2022 Although I’ve felt the calling to veil for the past two years, my fears and self consciousness always held me back. I finally took the plunge after realising that such thinking made the focus about me rather than on the worship of God. Since then, veiling has greatly deepened my faith and made me truly appreciate the beauty of Mass. In the same way I was inspired by beautifully veiled women, my hope is that my veiling will inspire others as well. ...
