15.01.2022 Some easing. Regrettably the extraordinary burden heaped upon sole traders (even ones in closed to the public factories or closed to the public offices) must remain barred up for most small business. The covid risk is so low that it can only be deduced they just do not care about the small business person.... Fight on small business anything CIA can do we will, reach out.
14.01.2022 Jobkeeper Rightfully or Wrongfully the changes begin from next week.
12.01.2022 CIA tax - Welcoming in the 2021 tax year!
10.01.2022 Nice wrap. Our CIA budget wrap newsletter out tomorrow morning - look out this budgets a doozy we fly or we don’t...
09.01.2022 BIG HEADS UP TO "CAFES / RESTAURANTS / BARS" Whilst our Victorian leadership are withholding their plan (suggest there isn't one yet!) We did get an important snippet today and its time to ACT to the new COVID normal and get negotiating with Landlords / or make outdoor changes. "When it comes to cafes, bars, restaurants, pubs, I think that the improving weather and the part of the year that we're moving into does give us some options that we simply didn't have last time.... So the notion of more outdoor eating, outdoor service - we're looking at that very, very closely.
09.01.2022 CIA tax’s review: Australian Federal Budget 2020/1 We certainly live in interesting times: Don’t think we had much of a choice (a pandemic budget) but to borrow and spend big. Idealism eventually runs out of money and we as a country need to generate income for our future ideals. This budget (like no other) feels like it is a fiscally live on our feet instead of living on our fiscal knees. In a way it’s a huge gamble to a vaccine arriving but if it doesn’t Australians learnin...Continue reading

08.01.2022 400,000 Victorian sole traders 'in the lurch' No Grants for them? "(They were) forced to close by your government under the stage four restrictions," she said. "Yet, horse racing dog racing continue can continue alcohol and tobacco stores can continue to open and operate." There's still time to right this neglect - these are the mum and dad businesses, the real battlers, fellow Victorians.
08.01.2022 Worth a 2 minute read
07.01.2022 Extended insolvency protections a relief for small businesses. Bit of legal relief yesterday - Yet sadly for some it is only a stay of execution. Don't ignore the problems, communicate with every debtor and creditor and if things are looking grim then we talk with the experts like Ashley to reconfigure forward hope "Regulations reducing the threat of creditors taking action against a small businesses impacted by trading restrictions have now been extended to 31 December 2020.... The changes also extend the temporary relief for directors from any personal liability for trading while insolvent. While we support this temporary relief for financially distressed businesses, there will also be a number of zombie businesses kept artificially afloat as a consequence"

02.01.2022 Melbourne Lockdown 2.0 Many in Melbourne today are in a state of disbelief that we once again are being locked down and outside of Melbourne I’m sure the rest of Australia are looking on with some concern. At the start of the last lockdowns we ran a series called cope and hope that was well received in a time of an economic tsunami.... Today at 6pm we are starting a new series In 2021 how will you view the year 2020 with the reminder that there is still 6 months to change our perceptions, contact us for details. This adversity is an opportunity to reflect and redirect into a renewed future. What lockdown means at CIA tax Business continues on as usual with some restrictions. Reception is open for contactless dropping off and picking up of tax documents as it does for couriers / mail. Phone reception is open 9-5 however the easiest way to contact the team is via email as some staff (as many as possible) are working remotely. CIA office is closed for client meetings for the safety of all however we do love virtual meetings and we have been doing many online and phone meetings. If there is a crisis that needs an actual meeting, CIA can work something out to accommodate this need within the lockdown rules. Keep an eye out for another round of Victorian Government business grants ($5,000) www.business.vic.gov.au along with Federal Government supports to be announced. There is plenty of cope to get us through no matter where we reside and plenty of hope to be hopeful about. Keep looking after each other and know that CIA tax will do its best on any level of tax, financial and mental health that we can offer.
