25.01.2022 Many new families and surrogate grandparents joined Find a Grandparent since we last posted an update. We had 5 families from VIC and 3 families each from WA and QLD. We also had 2 new grandmas from VIC and one surrogate grandma from WA. Most of those new member didn't want to be promoted on Facebook but you can find them on our website. 23.01.2022 Things you can do with your surrogate grandparent or family during the COVID-19 social distancing period: - regular phone calls - writing emails or letters to each other - having a chat on Skype... - reading books together with the kids on Skype - create a puppet play or role play with the kids on Skype The most important thing is to stay connected with each other during this difficult time and to show the family or surrogate grandparent that you care about them. 20.01.2022 We received a message from Jane, a musician who would love to connect with seniors during the social isolation time. Here is her message: "As soon as this COVID-19 situation flared up, I began wondering how I as a musician could connect via the internet, to reach out with music and chat, to those who are now locked in. I also have a music school, so our students would love to connect with elderly people who may be struggling with not seeing their families. My musician friends... are also interested." 20.01.2022 Happy Days We just received the message that one of our surrogate grandmas, who just joined our service recently, already connected with 2 families! She is already very fond of all the children and will be spending Christmas with one of the families. The grandma is very excited and we are very happy to receive such great news as well.

20.01.2022 On 27th of October is official Grandparents Day in NSW. There are many great events and some of them are already scheduled for this weekend. If you live in NSW this is a great opportunity to spend a lovely day with your grandparent or surrogate grandparent. 19.01.2022 A couple of days ago we were asking if one of our surrogate grandparent members would like to be interviewed by the ABC. One surrogate grandma was interested and today the article was published on the ABC website. But we still had 7 new family members and 4 new surrogate grandparent members joining our service. Some of them even made a connection with other members, which is so good to hear. 16.01.2022 After 4 weeks of hard work we managed to finish our new website, which went live today! Since we had to be a lot faster than we initially thought, it's still a bit rough around the edges but all the functionality should be there. 11.01.2022 We have been approached by a digital producer for ABC Life. She would like to interview one of our families from Sydney who successfully connected with a surrogate grandparent. There would also be a photo shoot included. The topis is if your kids dont have grandparents, how do you introduce them to older people. 02.01.2022 One of our surrogate grandmas shared a lovely story with us and we are allowed to share it here as well. The grandma has been in contact with a family for quite some time and of course they missed seeing each other during the Covid19 lock down last year. When the grandma's birthday came up, the family contacted her GP to get a medical permission to meet the grandma. They had all been in isolation for a long time so this was safe for all involved. The mum and daughter surprised the grandma with pizzas, muffins and the beautiful birthday card that you can see here. Of course the grandma loved every minute of this surprise visit. What a lovely story and thanks very much for sharing!

01.01.2022 An article about Find a Grandparent was recently published in the Glasshouse Country News. One of our family members organised this for us and we would like to say a big "Thank You" to this family for helping us to spread the word about our service. We hope that many seniors from the area will sign up on our website soon so that this family can meet them.
