25.01.2022 There comes a time when you have to let everything fall apart. When you have to stop fighting for a life you've outgrown and trust that you will be okay, even if you can't see how right now. For a while everything may feel messy and hard, and you may feel scared and lost. Embrace the fear. Embrace the uncertainty. Embrace the loss. 21.01.2022 Good morning dear friends I love what Miten says in this live recording: 'it becomes clear that we cannot escape anywhere other than inside ourselves...just like all the teachers and the gurus have said forever - it's meditation. I am not running any yoga classes at the Masonic Hall for the time being, but will keep in touch with you all here - and via email. Keep yourselves calm and your immune systems strong. 18.01.2022 Walk with Grief ~ A Celtic Prayer Do not hurry as you walk with grief It does not help the journey Walk slowly, pausing often... 18.01.2022 'The Breathing Space': commencing Wednesday 2 December, 5.15-6pm (on zoom) In this four week course, we will learn how to move energy through the body more effectively with breath practices. Humans take, on average, 18,000 to 20,000 breaths per day. In these sessions, we will be focusing on slowing down the breath, working towards the cultivation of two qualities: ‘dirgha’ (extended/long) and ‘sukshma’ (smooth/subtle). As we find steadiness in the breath, we find a steadiness... in the mind, calming and quieting, soothing the nervous system. This in turn triggers various physiological changes: the heart rates slows down, blood pressure decreases and muscular tension is released. Put simply, when we work with the breath, we come back into balance in a natural way. Working with the breath can also provide us with an incredible plethora of information about ourselves. It is a wonderful vehicle for self-exploration. Nothing takes us faster or deeper into ourselves than working with our breath. And the breath is often said to be the bridge between our conscious and unconscious. Distortions in breathing, if we hold the breath for example, can also be used as a terrific diagnostic tool. For more information, and/or to book your spot, email Fiona - [email protected]

12.01.2022 Live-Streaming Zoom Yoga Classes with Fiona - now being offered on Tuesday 9.30am, Friday 9.30am & Saturday 10am. For more info, send me a pm or email: [email protected] In this morning's session, I shared the following poem - so great for our current reality...... And below are some more wonderful photos from students - of their 'home yoga spaces' - just love seeing these pics - keep them coming! Love to you all Fiona x Trough There is a trough in waves, a low spot where horizon disappears and only sky and water are our company. And there we lose our way unless we rest, knowing the wave will bring us to its crest again. There we may drown if we let fear hold us in its grip and shake us side to side, and leave us flailing, torn, disoriented. But if we rest there in the trough, in silence, being in the low part of the wave, keeping our energy and noticing the shape of things, the flow, then time alone will bring us to another place where we can see horizon, see land again, regain our sense of where we are, and where we need to swim ~ Judy Brown

11.01.2022 Dear friends It has just been wonderful, and heart-warming, connecting with so many of you, via zoom, these past few weeks. Who would've ever thought!!?? Thanks to those of you who have jumped on board. If you'd like to know more, please send me a pm or email: [email protected] Classes this week are running on:... Thursday 9.30am Friday 9.30am Saturday 10am Here are what a couple of students have said about these sessions: 'Thanks so much for everything you're doing to take care of us in every way during this time. I hope you too are caring for yourself. I am really loving the classes and as a long time student of yours feel that the way in which you've adjusted to the digital medium is continuing to offer us equally excellent yoga classes ' 'Hi Fiona. Can I just say the online classes just get better and better. You are clearly working so hard to make it accessible to all I miss you and the class but it feels as close as possible. Today's class I did in bed! Woke with a terrible headache and tired. But I knew I could listen, visualise and 'let go'. It was wonderful to be a part of the group. I feel so much better now, ready to be in the day. Sending you much love and gratitude'

10.01.2022 Zoom Yoga Sessions for next week Tuesday 9.30am Friday 9.30am Saturday 10am... For links, please email: [email protected] And here are links to two recorded yoga sessions now on youtube for you to enjoy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zblRcD-O5dE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UCXoZLGePbo Regarding these sessions, here's what one student sent me this week: .your yoga via zoom classes have been making a difference to my wellbeing, and I am sooooooo happy to know you're contemplating continuing themIt's been wonderful to be with you from the start of your online journey, from those classes where your head seemed to take a battering courtesy of us learner zoom folk (please mute those mics!!!!), to the past few weeks where cool cat Fiona has been delivering a very professional package I must say. You are all heart Fiona, what's not to love about your classes whether they're face-to-face or onlineI know you've said online delivery for you doesn't have the same vibe, but for me the vibe is just as wonderful online as in your studio I think it's great that you've given the opportunity for comments and questions at the end of the classes. To begin with I really needed to get a sense of who else was on the mat, that we were 'all in this together'. I felt quite buoyed knowing how big and diverse the Saturday group was. I always keep my video on, and while I respect the choice not to, I love seeing those precious faces and souls I've shared the experience with. And I do like to take a peek at myself in certain poses to see if I can 'self-correct' I'm so happy that you've found another way to share your gifts, and I for one would be ever so happy and grateful if you do decide to zoom zoom zoom into the future Your classes are such a gift. It's obvious that you've been digging deep to help us all get through this weird time, your classes are meeting big needs, your classes are powerful. .with love and gratitude

04.01.2022 Message from the Council of 13 Indigenous Grandmothers http://www.grandmotherscouncil.org/ "As you move through these changing times... be easy on yourself and... be easy on one another. You are at the beginning of something new. You are learning a new way of being. You will find that you are working less in the yang modes that you are used to. You will stop working so hard at getting from point A to point B the way you have in the past, but instead, will spend more time experiencing yourself in the whole, and your place in it. Instead of traveling to a goal out there, you will voyage deeper into yourself. Your mother's grandmother knew how to do this. Your ancestors from long ago knew how to do this. They knew the power of the feminine principle... and because you carry their DNA in your body, this wisdom and this way of being is within you. Call on it. Call it up. Invite your ancestors in. As the yang based habits and the decaying institutions on our planet begin to crumble, look up. A breeze is stirring. Feel the sun on your wings."

04.01.2022 Yoga & Meditation Home Retreat (via Zoom) The Wisdom of Letting Go Sunday 23 August, 8am-12.15pm Difficulties are like the ornaments of a good practitioner.... Dharma is not practiced perfectly, amidst pleasant circumstances ~ Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche One of the most powerful teachings of the ancient scriptures is about letting go. All religions and spiritual traditions encourage us to let go of our suffering, the tyranny of our thoughts, our constant judgements and illusions. But what exactly does it mean to let go? What have we each had to let go of during the global pandemic this year? How do we stop clinging? How do we learn to let go of our attachments, our fears, our compulsions and fixations and constant holding to things that we have outgrown? And what happens when we struggle to, or can’t, let go? What does Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras offer on this topic? What tools and techniques can support us to let go and connect with our true power, our innate strength and courage? These are some of the questions we will explore during our time together. For more info, give Fiona a call on 0431 080 157 or email [email protected] Letting go of our suffering is the hardest work we will ever do ~ Stephen Levine For all of us, much of the sadness in life can be traced to our problems with letting go ~ Lama Surya Das
