10.01.2022 Today marks the beginning of Men’s Health Week, a week that focuses on the health impacts of men’s environments. Our people are our most important asset and the...ir mental and physical wellbeing is crucial to ensuring we are prepared for anything. This year Men’s Health Week highlights the importance of taking the time to have regular check-ups with a general practitioner and regular check-ins with your loved ones. Some of the work Fire and Rescue NSW is doing to support our people in this area includes the recruitment of Wellbeing Officers to support the roll out of mental health programs and enhancing our personal protective equipment to reduce our firefighters exposure to carcinogens. Tips from www.menshealthweek.org.au to manage your health: Be active in getting medical help if you don't feel well, have a problem that won't go away or notice unusual symptoms. It's OK to seek help - don't try to do everything on your own or bury problems. Talk to your partner, friends and workmates. Push hard to get the help you need to manage your life, work, family and financial needs. Partners - be proactive in helping your men and boys get the help they and you need. Use available hotlines, speak with professionals to get the best course of action and be persistent. Don't leave it too late to seek help. 08.01.2022 About 2.10pm this afternoon reports were received that a motor vehicle had crashed into a residential dwelling in Floraville with occupants of the vehicle trapp...ed inside. FRNSW crews from 500 Station Tingira Heights, 222 Station Belmont and 357 Station Lambton were responded by Newcastle Fire Command to the incident. On arrival, the male driver of the vehicle was found inside and was shortly after released by firefighters and handed over to paramedics for treatment. The crew of 357 Station's Technical Rescue appliance, with assistance from 222 Belmont firefighters, carried out stabilisation of the damaged premises utilising a number of Acrow props and the construction of timber shoring. The male driver was transported to hospital by ambulance. Ambulance and Police also attended the incident along with the Westpac Rescue Helicopter. 04.01.2022 This long weekend, when you change your clocks, check your smoke alarm! Many smoke alarms installed before or in the couple of years since 2010 are now startin...g to reach the end of their life span and will need to be replaced if they are out of date. Don’t risk it, test it. Working smoke alarms help save lives. #PreparedForAnything #ProtectTheIrreplaceable
