22.01.2022 Devastating news today, with the passing of a Rural Fire Service volunteer firefighter from Hill End Rural Fire Brigade following firefighting operations at an incident in Hill End. From all of us at 105 Kelso, we send our deepest condolences to the family, friends and fellow fire-fighters during this terrible time. Thankyou for your service to the people of NSW.

17.01.2022 Incident Call: 6.28pm. Kelso 105 Pumper and STP63 (Kelso Spare) responded to an MVA involving a Biosoil (Treated human waste) semi trailer, which whilst navigating a roundabout at Ashworth Dr, the trailer rolled onto its side spilling the (Smelly) contents onto the road. Crews got to work establishing there were no spills or environmental risks, and remained to assist while the trailer was removed. Contractors remain on-site removing excess spill and the road west bound remains closed. Diversions in place. Great work by Police, RMS, Ambulance, Essential Energy and local contactors. #105RETAINED #preparedforanything #smellysmellysmelly

17.01.2022 This long weekend, when you change your clocks, check your smoke alarm! Many smoke alarms installed before or in the couple of years since 2010 are now starting to reach the end of their life span and will need to be replaced if they are out of date. Don’t risk it, test it. Working smoke alarms help save lives.... #PreparedForAnything #ProtectTheIrreplaceable

12.01.2022 Thursday 1st October marks the start of the 2020/21 Bush Fire Danger Period for the Bathurst Regional Council area. During the Bush Fire Danger Period any person wishing to light a fire in the open will require a Fire Permit, including hazard reduction burns. A Fire Permit is required for burning activities during the Bush Fire Danger Period and helps to ensure fire is used safely, minimising the danger to you, your property, your neighbours and the community. Permits are free and can be obtained from your local permit issuing officer or the Chifley Fire Control Centre on 1300 258 737. Visit the FRNSW or RFS websites for great help and information in how to prepare your property.

07.01.2022 SEVERE TO EXTREME HEATWAVE - #NSW Increased fire danger ratings will be coming over the next week. Remember if you see a fire ring 000 immediately. An intense November heatwave is expected to affect large parts of the state for the last week of the month and persist into early December as a slow moving and very hot air mass pools over the region. ... Temperatures are expected to be more typical of a mid-summer heatwave rather than late spring, with the temperature expected to soar into the mid to high 40s across some inland areas over consecutive days. Western parts of NSW are expected to scorch, with towns such as #Bourke, #Wilcannia, #Walgett and #WhiteCliffs likely to see at least 5-6 consecutive days of 40+ temperatures and some locations possibly longer. Bourke may reach up to 46 on Sunday and Tuesday. Whilst some may think these temperatures over inland areas are typical, for this time of year they are very unusual (generally occurring in January and February), with only November 2009 and 2014 seeing similar heat. The slopes, ranges and eastern plains (#Dubbo, #Moree, #Tamworth etc) will feel the worst of the heat a little later, with the hottest airmass affecting these regions from the weekend and into early December, with temperatures into the high 30s and low to mid 40s. Further east will be spared the worst heat, with weak southerly changes preventing heat from persisting over consecutive days. #Sydney will see it’s hottest days this weekend reaching the mid 30s in the city, and up to 42 in the west. The hot airmass is expected to break down over the east of the country within the first week of December due to a cold front and an increase of moisture, showers and storms.
