22.01.2022 WE REMEMBER | Today marks National Police Remembrance Day, where we commemorate the service and sacrifice of the members of the NSW Police Force who have lost t...heir lives in the line of duty. Much like our firefighters, police officers dedicate their lives to protecting our NSW community. Today we recognise their courage and commend all those who have lost their lives to keep us safe. #MoreThanFire #Community

21.01.2022 Here we are using a kitchen fire simulator to show what can happen if you leave cooking unattended. Please note, there is only a small amount of cooking oil in this pan. It doesn't take long for a fire to start and take hold. Remember to 'Keep Looking When Cooking' #MoreThanFire #PreparedForAnything #FRNSW #346Kiama #KeepLookingWhenCooking

11.01.2022 About 10:19 hours today our crews responded to reports of a crane accident in Kiama Downs. On arrival crews found a crane which had been lifting roof sheets onto a new house had rolled. It appears that as the crane was lifting, the ground under one of the stabilisers had given way causing the crane to roll over. The driver suffered leg injuries and was treated by Ambulance personnel before being transported to hospital. Fortunately, no one else was injured. After checking the scene and noting no fuel leaks or power lines down, the scene was handed over to Police. #MoreThanFire #PreparedForAnything #346Kiama #FRNSW

08.01.2022 About 8.06am today our crew, along with Gerringong Rural Fire Brigade, NSW Ambulance, NSW SES Kiama Unit and NSW Police Force responded to reports of a persons trapped accident on the Princes Highway near Toolijooa Rd. On arrival we found a single vehicle had collided with the guard rail and overturned, trapping the driver inside. The driver was released a short time later and transported to hospital. The northbound lanes were closed for some time while the scene was cleared. #frnsw #preparedforanything #346kiama #MoreThanFire

08.01.2022 Yesterday, our crew, along with crews from Fire and Rescue NSW Station 488 Shellharbour, Fire and Rescue NSW Station 207 Albion Park and firefighters from a number of other stations said farewell to one of our own. Warren Hart was a member of Fire and Rescue NSW (formerly NSW Fire Brigades) from 1963 until his retirement in 2004, a total of 40 years. Warren was stationed at Kiama Fire Station where he spent 8 years as engine keeper. Rest in Peace Warren. Thank you for your service. #MoreThanFire #PreparedForAnything #346Kiama #FRNSW

08.01.2022 About 11:44 hours today our crews responded to reports of a spill in Collins Street Kiama. On arrival we found a large spill of hydraulic fluid which had leaked from a vehicle and onto the roadway. The passing traffic had spread the spill from its source to Terralong Street. Our crews used spagsorb to cover the major area and Kiama Council supplied sand to cover the remainder. The road was closed for some time whilst the cleanup took place. #MoreThanFire #PreparedForAnything #346Kiama #FRNSW

06.01.2022 Yesterday evening our crew undertook some training in the use of hydrant booster systems. These types of systems are usually installed in high rise and commercial buildings. The system allows us to get water to the seat of a fire without having to drag hoses through the whole building. Some systems also allow us to boost the pressure in the fire sprinkler systems to assist i n extinguishing the fire. #MoreThanFire #PreparedForAnything #346Kiama #FRNSW
