Something to Hide: A riveting new novel of rural suspense from the bestselling Voice of the Outback. With the sickening realisation that his cover has been blown, Detective Dave Burrows knows his family is in serious danger from the vicious stock thieves and murderers, Bulldust and his brother Scotty. Devastating news brings Dave back to Barrabine, where circumstances force him to question his determination to stay in the police force. How could he live with himself if anything happened to Mel and the kids? Mel, understandably frightened, must decide who she'll listen to. Can she trust Dave to handle this threat hanging over their family, or is her father right to argue that she should leave her marriage immediately? With her acclaimed skill for tension and drama, Fleur McDonald has delivered another richly compelling story in Something to Hide. About the Author Fleur McDonald has lived and worked on farms for much of her life. After growing up in the small town of Orroroo in South Australia, she became a jillaroo before spending twenty years farming 8000 acres, east of Esperance, WA. Fleur likes to write about strong women overcoming adversity, drawing inspiration from her own experiences in rural Australia. She is the best-selling author of Red Dust, Blue Skies, Purple Roads, Silver Clouds and Crimson Dawn, Emerald Springs, Indigo Storm, Sapphire Falls, The Missing Pieces of Us, Suddenly One Summer and Fool's Gold, as well as the ebook exclusive If You Were Here.

06.01.2022 Recently, a group of 19 students from KICE with a keen interest in the Diesel Mechanic trade, visited the Council Depot on Acacia Drive to learn first-hand the skills involved and qualifications needed to gain an apprenticeship through Council. Senior Mechanic Mark Virgo gave the students a site induction, handed out safety vests and hosted an ‘all access pass’ tour of the depot. Mark spent the afternoon focusing on talking through the day to day jobs, challenges and perks of being a council mechanic, council apprenticeships and the importance of English and Maths skills. The students thoroughly enjoyed their tour of the depot, looking at machinery and watching the mechanics at work. We hope the boys really learnt something from Mark and look forward to potentially employing some of them in the future!

06.01.2022 Lest we forget Victory in the Pacific Day - or 'VP Day' - is commemorated across Australia and the world. As the anniversary of the day World War II ended, it's a date that we should never forget. On 15 August 1945, Japan accepted the Allied Nations' terms of surrender and Australia's Prime Minister, Ben Chifley, announced that the war was over.... World War II is a significant event in Australia's history. Nearly one million Australians served in the armed forces during the war. It was also the first time since European settlement that Australia came under attack. On VP Day, we remember Australia's war efforts from 1942 to 1945 in the Pacific region, including in Singapore, Borneo, Malaya, Papua, New Guinea and New Britain. It was a time when people worked hard and cooperated to defend the nation. We commemorate those who served in the war. Some 40,000 Australians did not return home to their families. Over 17,000 service men and women lost their lives while fighting in the war against Japan, some 8000 of whom died in Japanese captivity. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them Lest we forget 15 August 2020 75th Anniversary of the end of World War II VP Day
