12.01.2022 WE STAND WITH NYNGAN The NSW SES is the lead agency for combating flood and storms in NSW. The Nyngan Unit commemorate the flood of 1990 with April 2020 marki...ng 30 Years since the natural disaster. It was a flood that devastated the township of Nyngan turning the town into what resembled an inland sea. The flood forced the evacuation of the township which was the largest evacuation in the history of NSW at the time, with residents fleeing with very few possessions. Nothing within the township was spared, homes had water lapping at their eaves. Army, News and commercially owned helicopters were brought in to help with the mass evacuation, ferrying residents to nearby buses that would take them to surrounding towns which would become a temporary home. 30 years on and the town of Nyngan remembers this disaster, showing the resilience that is typical of rural Australians, coming out of the flood bigger and stronger! NSW SES Nyngan Unit stands with the community of Nyngan as we commemorate this major milestone in isolation and look forward to future events to mark the occasion.

The h...eat generated cannot dissipate and the charger will become hotter and hotter. The likely result is that the pillow/bed will catch fire placing the child (as well as everyone else in the property) in great danger. Think....where do you & your family charge your moblie phone?

07.01.2022 Our firefighters from across Region West have banded together to raise money to support the Jordan family by selling beanies in the lead up to the colder months.... Bridie is the daughter of Damien Jordan, Deputy Captain at 300 Gilgandra station. Bridie suffers from Mainzer Saldino Syndrome, a rare genetic syndrome only diagnosed in around 20 others internationally. It effects bone growth and organs in the body. As a result of this, Bridie's kidneys are failing, and she's currently undergoing extensive treatment in Sydney, hundreds of kilometres from home. This fundraiser has been set up by firefighters in Region West Area Command, and is designed to help support the family, who have been forced to live away from home during Bridie's treatment. In 2018, Damien Jordan was the second highest individual fundraiser in the Firies Climb for Motor Neurone Disease. It's time for us to support Damien and his family during their time of need. To purchase your beanie, simply visit our website at https://beaniesforbridie.com.au/

06.01.2022 SEVERE TO EXTREME HEATWAVE - #NSW An intense November heatwave is expected to affect large parts of the state for the last week of the month and persist int...o early December as a slow moving and very hot air mass pools over the region. Temperatures are expected to be more typical of a mid-summer heatwave rather than late spring, with the temperature expected to soar into the mid to high 40s across some inland areas over consecutive days. Western parts of NSW are expected to scorch, with towns such as #Bourke, #Wilcannia, #Walgett and #WhiteCliffs likely to see at least 5-6 consecutive days of 40+ temperatures and some locations possibly longer. Bourke may reach up to 46 on Sunday and Tuesday. Whilst some may think these temperatures over inland areas are typical, for this time of year they are very unusual (generally occurring in January and February), with only November 2009 and 2014 seeing similar heat. The slopes, ranges and eastern plains (#Dubbo, #Moree, #Tamworth etc) will feel the worst of the heat a little later, with the hottest airmass affecting these regions from the weekend and into early December, with temperatures into the high 30s and low to mid 40s. Further east will be spared the worst heat, with weak southerly changes preventing heat from persisting over consecutive days. #Sydney will see it’s hottest days this weekend reaching the mid 30s in the city, and up to 42 in the west. The hot airmass is expected to break down over the east of the country within the first week of December due to a cold front and an increase of moisture, showers and storms.
