Because of the continuously curved section this kerb is nearly impossible to clean with the grader and difficult with a shovel. Add to this the the cost of capital equipment standing idle while excess gravel is removed from kerb and channel. Traditionally this job is done manually using shovels ...and brooms risking RSI injuries due to the repetitive nature of doing long sections of kerb and channel. Whatever their size, backhoes offer more versatility than compact track loaders, excavators and even skid steers in certain applications; put a great operator on and you get better than your average hoe.

A demolition has gone horribly wrong on Sydneys northern beaches after workers hit a neighbouring building, causing a large section of it to collapse. The demolition crew was using an excavator to remove steel girders at the former Porters Liquor store on the corner of Sydney Rd and Woodland St in Balgowlah about 4.45pm on Tuesday.... However, a steel girder became stuck on the bottom corner of the neighbouring Booty Parlour gymnasium and a Thai massage parlour above it causing a whole wall to collapse.
