24.01.2022 That’s right! You’re never too old to learn something new ... and learning a musical instrument is a life changing process. We’ve got a Beginner Ensemble, Training Orchestra and Senior Orchestra ... how about a Parents & Carers Ensemble? Anyone? https://www.abc.net.au//eds-notebook-never-too-old/13318038

24.01.2022 ‘Meliora 2020’ - a joyful celebration of triumph over adversity. FGYO Junior Strings and the Fisher’s Ghost Youth Orchestra tonight played their first concert of 2020. To say we are proud of them is an understatement. We are in awe of their commitment, their passion and their pure joy in performing for us. Thank you to each and every one of you who give so much each week. A special thanks to Murray, Jarrad, Joanne, Jesse and Monique for performing with us and sharing a little bit of your magic with us all today. And let’s not forget the huge effort put in by our resident Maestro, Mr Michael O’Dea. It takes a special kind of person to lead a group of extraordinary kids, and we think he does an extraordinary job. (*Further photos forthcoming)

21.01.2022 Who is ready to head back to concert halls for the magic of live music? For those who felt the joy that Ms Monique brought to the Camden Civic Centre stage at Meliora, and felt the passion and excitement The Muffat Collective brought to the Mater Dei Chapel Camden on Sunday, here’s a fresh look at how the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra is connecting with fans in these interesting times. I know our young musicians have really enjoyed their performances over the past few weeks, which have been life changing for some. 11.01.2022 Our committee of volunteers tonight attended the (virtual) Melbourne Music Summit Opening Address presented by Dr Anita Collins. It was a presentation jam-packed with reasons for us to push through the current challenging environment to continue the FGYO legacy for our current and future musicians. If youre interested in understanding the neuroscience behind why every child needs a music education - Dr Collins speech is linked below. 10.01.2022 People often ask why we encourage our musicians to go out and perform in front of a diverse range of people at every opportunity. We perform in schools, shopping centres, nursing homes, at Kids Concerts and very shortly will make our online debut ... stay tuned for that!! The reason is simple - the more people we can provide access to our beautiful music, and the more children we can provide an excellent musical education to, the better off everyone in our community will be. https://www.classicfm.com//cellist-classical-music-isnt-r/
