25.01.2022 We’re back with a follow up to our post about hormonal imbalances in women Balanced hormonal levels are essential to ensure our bodies are functioning correctly. They work together to help achieve ‘homeostasis’, as our bodies are constantly changing as we deal with stressors in daily life. Our key female hormone, oestrogen, is responsible for menstruation, menopause, reproduction, sex drive & bone and blood health. Other hormones like progesterone support it, and they need... to remain in balance with each other for overall health. Cortisol is produced in the adrenal gland to help manage stress, but we have to be wary of the levels becoming dangerously high. More important than ever due to this tumultuous year! This in turn can affect our progesterone levels, as they are ‘stolen’ from other functions to produce more cortisol. Oestrogen then becomes dominant, which impacts thyroid and insulin levels and balance is disrupted. Swipe through for some lifestyle tweaks to help you manage the ups and downs of being female

This class combines elements of Pilates, functional fitness, yoga and ballet drills, to provide you with a full body workout and raise your heart rate. Exercises are high in intensity, so you feel the burn, but low in impact so it’s gentle on your joints. Join the lovely Sarah Tuesdays at 9:30am and Thursdays at 5:30pm

14.01.2022 You can’t go wrong with a plant-focused diet. Experts regularly debate the perfect diet, but the one thing they all seem to have reached consensus on is that increasing the proportion of plant-based foods you consume has a positive effect on your health. Try to consume plant based foods for the majority of your diet. ... Aim for 30 (yes, 30) different plant based foods per week - it's easier than you think, it's great for your gut health and better than obsessing about just a few supposed, 'superfoods'. Yes fresh herbs, seeds, nuts, grains and spices do count! Increase the fibre in your diet. It helps with gut health and elimination of waste. High-Fibre foods include: wholegrains, fruits, vegetables such as broccoli and carrots, nuts, seeds, beans and pulses. Eat real food. Avoid processed foods and try to get your nutrients from food itself rather than supplements. Less snacking = less meals. Leaving more time between meals and allow your body to digest. Try to only eat when you’re hungry. Calories count. If you eat more than you expend, you will put on weight.
