21.01.2022 Are you struggling to label your emotions? The emotions wheel is a great tool to help you label what you are feeling. Bringing awareness to your emotions allows you to identify and learn to manage and self-regulate them and understand why you are feeling the way you are. Learn to enhance your emotional literacy through the wheel of emotions. Here you can see 6 core emotions of fear, anger, disgust, sadness, surprise and happiness. There are many secondary emotions underlying... our core emotions which, by understanding, can help you navigate what you may actually be experiencing. For example, feeling fear and understanding that it stems from feeling rejected may help you work through the emotion and reasons for it. When you feel an emotion coming on have a look at the wheel to see what resonates with you and what core emotion it is attached to. The emotions wheel is created by Robert Plutchik.

21.01.2022 How are you? Most of us answer with good, okay or not bad. These are automatic, programmed responses, we rarely, if ever, acknowledge and respond with the emotions and feelings we are really experiencing. Many of us don’t even know what we are feeling or what emotions we are experiencing. So how do we learn to tap into it?... We need to become consciously aware of our emotions, recognise and label them. This allows us to deal with the feeling, rather than reacting in an explosion of emotion. For example, you may have an increased load at work and label your feeling as ok, busy when really it could be labelled as a feeling of being overwhelmed. Knowing that you feel overwhelmed, which is an underlying feeling of fear, you are better able to come up with an action plan of how to decrease that feeling. This will help reduce the negative feelings that come with staying in the unpleasant emotion of feeling ok, busy. How are you feeling right now? How many emotions can you label?

Let kids be kids... explain its okay to cry, its okay to feel sad or frustrated, allow them to yell or scream and release their energy. 09.01.2022 Finding ways of exercising during this isolation period can be a challenge. To keep you active both physically and mentally during this tough time in our lives I am offering online group sessions as well as 1-1 personal training sessions via zoom. The first virtual group exercise session this morning went extremely well, everyone exercising in their own space at home, whether indoor or out.
