25.01.2022 *Exercise beyond menopause* With a significant number of women belonging to the status of menopause and beyond, it is imperative to plan a comprehensive health program for them, including lifestyle modifications. Exercise is an integral part of the strategy. The benefits are many, most important being maintenance of muscle mass and thereby the bone mass and strength. The exercise program for postmenopausal women should include the endurance exercise (aerobic), strength exerci...se and balance exercise; it should aim for two hours and 30 minutes of moderate aerobic activity each week. Every woman should be aware of her target heart rate range and should track the intensity of exercise employing the talk test. Other deep breathing, Pilates and stretching exercises can help to manage the stress of life and menopause-related symptoms. Exercises for women with osteoporosis should not include high impact aerobics or activities in which a fall is likely. The women and the treating medical practitioner should also be aware of the warning symptoms and contraindications regarding exercise prescription in women beyond menopause. The role of exercise in hot flashes, however, remains inconclusive. Overall, exercising beyond menopause is the only noncontroversial and beneficial aspect of lifestyle modification and must be opted by all. Journal of Mid-life Health, Nalini Mishra, V. N. 19.01.2022 How can you improve your immune system ? On the whole, your immune system does a remarkable job of defending you against disease-causing microorganisms. But sometimes it fails: A germ invades successfully and makes you sick. You’re washing your hands 10 times a day and have stopped touching your face. What else can you do to improve your health and avoid bugs?... The idea of boosting your immunity is enticing, but the ability to do so has proved elusive for several reasons. The immune system is precisely that a system, not a single entity. To function well, it requires balance and harmony. Your first line of defence is to choose a healthy lifestyle. Following general good-health guidelines is the single best step you can take toward naturally keeping your immune system strong and healthy. Every part of your body, including your immune system, functions better when protected from environmental assaults and bolstered by healthy-living strategies such as these: Don't smoke. Eat a diet high in fruits and vegetables. Exercise regularly. Maintain a healthy weight. If you drink alcohol, drink only in moderation. Get adequate sleep. Take steps to avoid infection, such as washing your hands frequently and cooking meats thoroughly. Try to minimize stress. 2010 - 2020 Harvard University. 13.01.2022 True facts about training a youth athlete Strength and endurance training plays a significant role in ensuring that young athletes develop motor skills, understand muscle mechanics and become more coordinated, stable and strong as they progress through their athletic careers. The goal of training the youth athlete is to improve their movement patterns. ... Increased strength with proper movement will prevent muscle imbalances and prevent possible injury. By improving their strength you can enhance their health, fitness and sports performance. Basic movements such as: squats, pushups, pull ups, crawling, lateral shuffles and forward/backward running all produce better movement and better strength in young athletes. 08.01.2022 How do I make healthy food choices? There are many ways for you to have a diet that promotes health and the Australian Dietary Guidelines provide many options in their recommendations. The advice focuses on dietary patterns that promote health and wellbeing rather than recommending that you eat or completely avoid specific foods.... The Australian Dietary Guidelines have information about the types and amounts of foods, food groups and dietary patterns that aim to: * promote health and wellbeing; * reduce the risk of diet-related conditions, such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure and obesity; and * reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease and some types of cancers. Evidence suggests Australians need to eat more: * Plenty of vegetables, including different types and colours, and legumes/beans * Fruits * Grain (cereal) foods, mostly wholegrain and/or high cereal fibre varieties, such as breads, cereals, rice, pasta, noodles, polenta, couscous, oats, quinoa and barley * Reduced fat milk, yoghurt, cheese * Lean meats, fish, seafood, poultry, eggs, legumes/beans (including soy), and nuts and seeds. Evidence suggests Australians need to eat less: * starchy vegetables (i.e. there is a need to include a wider variety of different types and colours of vegetables) * refined cereals * high and medium fat dairy foods * food and drinks high in saturated fat, added sugar, added salt, or alcohol (e.g. fried foods, most take-away foods from quick service restaurants, cakes and biscuits, chocolate and confectionery, sweetened drinks) Based on material provided by the National Health and Medical Research Council

06.01.2022 There are some serious perks to starting your day with a sweat session. You'll be more active all day long A fresh start of the day You'll burn more fat. You'll lower your blood pressure... You'll sleep better at night. You'll build muscle more efficiently. You'll tap into the health benefits tied to exercising. A recent study published in Health Psychology found that the most consistent exercisers are those who make it a habit. Waking up early and heading to the gym before the rest of the world needs something from you means you're more likely to exercise regularly. It's a lot easier to blow off a workout after work, say because a friend is unexpectedly in town or something comes up at work to derail you. Setting an early-morning alarm helps you be consistent, which means you'll tap into all those health benefitsincluding increased immunity, longevity, and a better moodthat go along with regular exercise. #motivation #healthylifestyle #healthylifestylespecialists #exercise #getfit #feelwell #confident #personaltraining #mainbeach #goldcoast #fitnessworldmainbeach #personaltrainerstudio #wecanhelpyou #allages #healthcondition See more

05.01.2022 Technique and form are two totally different things. Technique is the way you perform an exercise in order to target specific muscle groups. For example, bench-pressing with a close grip or wide grip are types of techniques used to target different muscles in your chest. Form is all about injury prevention. An example of good form would be not leaning back or using your neck to help lift the weight when you’re performing bicep curls. Without the proper techni...que, your results won’t be as good as they could be. Having improper form can have negative effects on your body and leave you further away from your fitness goal. Injuries Incorrect weight training technique can lead to sprains, strains, fractures and other painful injuries that may hamper your weight training efforts. If you’re just getting started, work with a knowledgeable fitness professional who’s familiar with proper weight training technique. Less result The harder we work, the faster we expect to see results. However, just because you work hard and stay in the gym for hours doesn’t mean you will see results. If you have an hour to spend at the gym, using proper form will produce better results than poor form. Using correct form gives you strength without the strain. Working with a personal trainer is beneficial to make sure you are using proper techniques and form to avoid injury. 03.01.2022 In this era of exponential growth of the metabolic syndrome and obesity, lifestyle modifications could be a cost-effective way to improve health and quality of life. Lifestyle modifications can assume especially great importance in individuals with serious mental illness. Many of these individuals are at a high risk of chronic diseases associated with sedentary behavior and medication side effects, including diabetes, hyperlipidemia, and cardiovascular disease. An essential... component of lifestyle modification is exercise. The importance of exercise is not adequately understood or appreciated by patients and mental health professionals alike. Evidence has suggested that exercise may be an often-neglected intervention in mental health care. Exercise improves mental health by reducing anxiety, depression, and negative mood and by improving self-esteem and cognitive function.Ashish Sharma, Vishal Madaan, Frederick D. Petty Prim Care Companion J Clin Psychiatry. 2006; 8(2): 106. Beyond Blue Australia 2020 says that there are many ways that exercise positively influences your mental health: Promotes the release of feel-good chemicals in your brain, like endorphins and serotonin. It helps you sleep better so you rest fully at night and feel more energised during the day. Gives you a sense of accomplishment as your fitness improves and you start achieving your goals. Exercise is usually a shared activity with others so you get the added benefits of social connection. To reap these benefits, it’s generally recommended you do 30 minutes of ‘vigorous’ exercise at least five times a week. Most importantly, be kind to yourself if you haven’t exercised for a while. For many, this can trigger self-critical thoughts that lead to giving up the exercise routine entirely. Look for a fitness professional well qualified to assist you. Treat each day as a fresh start, and remind yourself that it’s human to drop the ball occasionally. #fitnessworldmainbeach #healthylifestyle #mentalhealth #mainbeach #strongbody #fitness #personaltraining #oneononesession #smallgroups #strongmind #exercises #goodforlife #bestrong #nevergiveup See more
02.01.2022 "Proprioception" refers to a sense of joint position. When a joint is sprained, it loses proprioception. Balance and proprioception are all about our ability to stay safely upright without injury. In order for us to remain upright, our brain needs constant input from our muscles and joints. This input enables the brain to monitor our position and make corrections when necessary. If the brain receives poor information, or if it receives the information too slowly, the...n we are prone to injury. For example, ankle sprains are one of the most common injuries any athlete will experience. It may be difficult to avoid that missed step, uneven ground or trip off the curb, but if you practice one simple exercise, you may be able to walk away without a serious injury. Sprained ankles, while sometimes due to a lack of lower limb strength, endurance or flexibility, are often caused by a lack of balance; proprioception, to be exact. The joint feels unstable and can give out. Proprioceptive exercises help the body relearn how to control the position of the joint. These exercises are a very common rehabilitation component for injured athletes, but they can just as easily be used to prevent injury. #preventinjuries #proprioceptiontraining #balancetraining #personaltraining #knowledge #personaltrainerstudio #fitnessworldmainbeach #mainbeach See more
