21.01.2022 From the LOTE room... During this term, over half of the Year 5 and 6 Chinese students entered the Mackay Region Language Network Chinese/Japanese Calligraphy Contest. This is an annual contest open to all schools in the Mackay region which teach Chinese or Japanese. For the competition, students from grades 4 - 12 write Chinese or Japanese characters as neatly as possible, ensuring they are as close a reproduction to the original text as possible. For example, the Year 5 ...text was the characters for the numbers 1-7, as follows: Whilst all students performed admirably, I'm very pleased to announce that in the Year 5 division Fitzgerald State School received 2 placings. A big congratulations goes to: First Place - Matthew Connolly Third Place - Emerald Barrow Well done! ! The work of all students who received a placing is currently on display in the children's section of the Gordon White Library, please take the opportunity to drop in and check it out. The work of the other 18 finalists from our school is on display in the laptop space at school. 14.01.2022 Swimming is on today for Prep-Year 3. Your child must have his/her own togs, towel, swimming caps and goggles.Thongs (to wear to and from the pool only) are optional. As lunchtimes are altered tuckshop should be saved for FRIDAY when students do not go swimming. Ensure every item of clothing, swim gear, goggles and swim cap are named clearly. All children requiring an EPI-PEN or ASTHMA PUFFER must take these with them at all times while going to swimming.

13.01.2022 Year 3 - 6 Awards Night - Tuesday 8th December 6:00pm Parents, please be advised envelopes will be coming home with your student this week if they have been selected to receive an award.The ceremony will be held in the school hall commencing at 6:00pm. Students are to arrive at the hall at 5:45pm and are to be in full school uniform. Parents are welcome to attend - please follow all COVID safe practices.

Fitzgerald P&C have kindly donated hire of waterslides. Students are to bring to school - swimming togs, towel, suncream. Tuesday 8th December - Prep - Year 2 Wednesday 9th December - Year 3 - 5 Year 6 students will be on their excursion.

03.01.2022 Parent information session - Tuesday 23rd February 6:00pm-6:30pm Information session for our beginner instrumental music parents. Session will cover how to install and use aps to support your child's music learning. Bring your own device - each device will need their own internet source. This session is to be held in the music room.
