25.01.2022 At the end of the month NSW SES will go online with the Public Access Defibrillation (PAD) Program to support NSW Ambulance. What does this mean? If NSW Ambulance has a surge in demand for Ambulances, they are also able to activate NSW SES units to attend cardiac arrest calls in addition to their paramedics (who will still attend.)... NSW SES units are equipped with Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) and can bring their AEDs to these support callouts. It’s an additional layer of support that we can provide to the ambo’s when they are busy - if we can get a defib to a patient just moments earlier than they can get there, it could be enough to save a life. 18.01.2022 RED and BLUE ! What do you do? When Bob sees red and blue lights in his rear view mirror, he doesn't panic, he indicates and pulls to the left when safe to do so. ... Bob doesn't try to overtake and out run emergency vehicles. Bob is smart Bob is safe Be like Bob Recently the SES & emergency services were activated to reports of a person trapped In a Motor Vehicle Accident at Murrumi. Two SES rescue vehicles responded to the incident, one of those vehicles while under lights and siren reported that a member of the public over took them and attempted to out run the emergency vehicle. Fortunately, this dangerous behaviour did not result in a collision, However the vehicle and number plate were reported to NSW Police for further investigation Within the Road Rules 2014, rule 78 stipulates that "If a driver is in the path of an approaching police or emergency vehicle that is displaying a flashing blue or red light (whether or not it is also displaying other lights) or sounding an alarm, the driver must move out of the path of the vehicle as soon as the driver can do so safely". When an emergency vehicle is behind you with lights and/or sirens, they are responding to a potentially life-threatening emergency. If your loved ones were in that car crash, their house on fire, being physically attacked or in cardiac arrest, you would want emergency services there as quickly as possible. So please, if you see red and blue lights in your rear view mirror, don't panic, indicate your intentions and pull to the the left (when safe to do so).
