25.01.2022 Well its the end of the home and away season for 2019/20. We have our 2nd XI in the finals after finishing second on the ladder. Congratulations boys and best of luck for this campaign. The club had a clean sweep of Greenvale to finish the year off. The Kookaburra 4thXI being unlucky needing 3 final wickets to get an out right win to make finals. Kinnan Asdagi getting his best figures for the season with 4/26 to help bowl Greenvale out for 109 chasing 316. Then Greenvale bat...ted again and finished at 7/161. Great effort by the boys to try and make the finals. The Vero 1stXI won after scoring 248 last week, bowling Greenvale out for 130. Best bowling to Sam Elliott 4/26, Ejaaz Alavi 3/47 and Kobe Smith 2/25. The Ausbrokers 2ndXI won scoring 9/251 chasing 217 with Brendan Grace 77 runs and Mick Sacchetta 71 runs being top scorers. The Woodards 3rdXI finished the year bowling Greenvale out for 164 chasing 9/226. Best bowling to Jordan Brambleby 3/37, Dhanoa 2/6, Sheridan 2/23 and McIlveen 2/64. The club also wishes the best of luck to our favorite Pom Gav Griffiths and safe trip home to start his English summer. See more

23.01.2022 An exciting grand final at Templestowe Reserve tonight in the Twenty20 Topline Cricket Shield. Lions v Templestowe CC. Reduced to a 10 over a side match due to rain, the Lions bowled well and held Templestowe to 87 runs. The Lion’s batting was excellent but unfortunately fell 8 runs short. ... Another excellent T20 season by the young Lions !! And thanks Templestowe CC for hosting tonight’s match

23.01.2022 A good read on David King and mentions of Lions, Dicko, Fagg, Knowles

20.01.2022 Fitzroy Doncaster's Vero 1stXI lost their semi final to Prahran at Toorak Park on Saturday. Fitzroy Doncaster having been sent into bat made 6/138 from 33 overs. The match was reduced after a few heavy showers stopped play. Before that the Lions were moving along nicely at 2/88. Fitzroy Doncaster lost the wicket of top scorer Jack Rudd 42 runs after the first resumption and then more wickets fell after a 2nd, in a bid to boost the runs. Prahran CC then had to chase down the a...djusted score of 170 from 33 overs in some sunny but cool conditions. Prahran's opener smacked 6x4's and 5x6's off 37 balls. This did not help the Lions cause. The young Lions did try a brief comeback with 4/20 led by their skipper Ejaaz Alavi 2/14. However the early damage didn't leave much breathing space and Prahran ran out winners 4/170 from 30.3 overs. Coach Mick O'Sullivan while disappointed after the game, spoke to the team reminding them of where they had come from at the start of the year till now. Losing the first 3 then making it to a semi beating the top side along the way made it still a successful season. The coach spoke about the fact of being so young, having your 3 oldest players at 26, the team can only grow and get better in the future. This augers well for our young club. So now the season is over but the Lions supporters left the ground proud of the way this team handled itself to enable an opportunity to play for a grand final berth. Now to look forward to the Clubs awards night on the 7th May at Heidelberg Golf Club. Go Lions. Image: Lion's top scorer Jack Rudd. See more

20.01.2022 Fitzroy Doncaster CC also received the John Scholes trophy after their win. A presentation awarded after every Lions v Blues 1stXI contest. This is to commemorate one of Victoria's and Premier Crickets finest namely John "Barrel" Scholes. A legend at Carlton with 23 seasons and 4 flags then 8 seasons with 1 flag at Fitzroy Doncaster. 3rd on the Premier highest runs list 12,693 runs, State player, selector and coach, first schoolboy to score 100 and take 10 wickets in a state ...carnival match, played for Victoria at 18 and football at North Melbourne, the list of achievements is much longer. This all doesn't top however, the character of the man who was a great mentor and great friend to many. This award is very important to both clubs. 18.01.2022 Last weekend saw the Lions start their games against Greenvale. The final round for the season. Despite a shaky start on a nice green wicket the Vero 1stXI finished the day on 248. This was due to keeper/batsmen Liam Banthorpe saving the day with his debut club 1stXI century. Coming in to bat at 4/24 it couldn't have come at a better stage. Liam had valuable batting partnerships of 65 with Lakshmn Shivakkumar (33runs), 60 runs with Ejaaz Alavi (20 runs) and 67 runs with Gavin... Griffiths (41runs) which saw the Lions out of trouble. In other games the Ausbrokers 2ndXI have Greenvale 8/206. Joe Blyth 3/41 and Jackson Ellingworth 3/47 best bowlers. The Woodards 3rdXI made 9/226. Curtis Stephens scored 57 runs, Jordan Brambleby 39 runs, Jackson Braunthal 35 runs and Charlie Love 30. The Kookaburra 4thXI had a run feast finishing with 5/316. Matt Thomas joining Liam in also scoring his maiden ton opening the batting with 108no. Great innings there. Well supported by Skipper Joel Reid 84 runs and Louis Macciocca with 72 runs. Image. Banners scores his first 100 for the Lions. See more

17.01.2022 Time to remember some classic Peter Dickson. Opening the batting T20 style with England's T20 opener Alex Hales in 2016-17.

17.01.2022 The Ausbrokers Fitzroy-Doncaster 2nd XI defeated Carlton CC on the weekend at home and move into week 2 of finals. On Saturday the young Lions bowled Carlton out for 179 in the 70th over. Jackson Ellingworth 4/50, Joe Blyth 2/30 and Bailen Clarke 2-48 were the major wicket takers. Openers Michael Jephcott (21 runs) and skipper Sam Jones(21 runs) opened the batting but both fell before the end of days play. On the Sunday Fitzroy looked like they were steaming ahead with a 60 run partnership between Shivakkumar (23 runs)and Grace(45 runs). Then a mini collapse occurred losing 4-20 giving the Blues a sniff. Zac Macciocca steadied the ship however with a fine 34no and he and Bailen Clarke 14no saw the Roys home finishing up 7/181. A good win under pressure. Now on to next week. Image: Jackson Ellingworth 4-50 against Carlton CC 2ndXI

11.01.2022 Fitzroy-Doncaster 2ndXI celebrate a finals win on Sunday.

10.01.2022 Thanks to a washout the previous week the Lions games against Footscray CC. were now One day (50 overs) games. Unfortunately both matches scheduled at the home of the Lions were called off again due to the soaking the pitches received early in the week. The two games played out at Footscray however ended in losses. The Vero 1stXI did well restricting the dogs to 8/191. Highlight being Peter Dicksons career 200th Victorian Premier 1stXI wicket. "Dicko" also having the best fig...ures of 2-19 off 6.5 overs. 6.5 overs because he did his hamstring again. The Lions batted but failed to make the score being all out 162. Jack Rudd highest score with 37. Not quite good enough. The Woodards Doncaster 3rdXI tried to chase down the Doggies 228 but went down as well, all out for 174. Hamish Bruckner 34 and Mick Sacchetta 33 top scores. On to Greenvale next week. Image: Fitzroy-Doncaster players celebrate a milestone with their team mate Peter Dickson. See more

09.01.2022 After last weekends draw thanks to the weather, this weekends games were completed without any issues. Melbourne Uni though came out firing and only the Ausbrokers 2ndXI had a win. They bowled Melbourne Uni out for 210 with James Trevenen best bowler with 3-48. Then Fitzroy-Doncaster made 7/333. Shivakkumar 76 runs and Simondson 60 runs were the top scorers. Another good win by the two's.The Vero 1stXI were bundled out cheaply again for 148. Nick Fletcher's 50 adding some res...pectability. Melbourne Uni then made 316 for an easy win. Nick Fletcher followed up his batting with good bowling as well nabbing 5-77. Gav Griffiths 4-49 also did well for the Lions. With the match result done and dusted the Lions batted late in day 2 making 2-137. Zac Elliott scoring 81no continuing his good form this season. The Woodards-Doncaster 3rd XI made 114. Hamish Bruckner's 31 was the top score for the Lions. Melbourne Uni then made 3-120 for the win. The Kookaburra 4thXI made 182 after Uni made 286. 05.01.2022 Cricket Victoria article on our recently retired club legend.

04.01.2022 The first round is done and dusted and it was great to see cricket being played again. Welcome to all of our new players and best of luck for the season. Unfortunately on the results side of the ledger we only had one team get the points. Prahran CC defeated the Lions 1stXI at our home at Schramms Reserve. Fitzroy-Doncaster CC. made 9/214 and the two blues chased it down late in the day making 4/218. Liam Banthorpe top scored with 65no and Jack Rudd 42. Skipper Ejaaz grabbed ...a couple of wickets in his 150th match courtesy of some Banners fine stumpings. The 3rdXI were the only winners on the day making 9/181 then bowling Prahran out for 130. Darcy Gregory-Francis made 75 and Zac Merrett 45 playing in their first games. Well done gents. Then Darcy followed up with 3/13, Matt Sheridan 3/28 and Alex Johnston 2/7. In the other games that Prahran won we had the 2ndXI top scorers being Brendan Grace 54 and James Trevenen 32 and the 4th XI Jack Helmot 47 and Jordan Brambleby 44 top scored. 01.01.2022 OK my computer monitor screen is back and all new so just a brief catch up. Today we have Round 4 starting against Camberwell Magpies CC. We hope we can get some well needed wins this week. Its been slow going in the win department for the last 2 rounds. Last week Skipper Alavi 68 runs and Sam Elliott 43 were the highlights from the 1stXI game at Northcote. The previous week against St Kilda CC, Liam Banthorpe made 71 runs in the 1st XI, Zac Macciocca 77runs and Hamish Bruckner 59 runs in the 2nd XI. Jade Bardwell made a 69 and Lucas Bridger took 4-49 in the 4thXI. Best of luck to all sides today. Lets bring home some wins. Go Lions. Image: Skipper Alavi at Northcote.

01.01.2022 After 15 seasons at the Fitzroy-Doncaster CC and 5 at Melbourne CC the oldest member of our 2019/20 team and most decorated player, Peter Dickson has called it a day. 10,000 runs and 200 wickets in the Victorian Premier 1stXI plus being club captain for many years, multiple best player awards and Premierships, there's very little this man has not achieved. "Dicko" has been a fierce competitor and a hugely respected loyal team mate who has left his mark on this great club. Congratulations "Dicko" on an outstanding career and thanks for the memories. Most notable is a Premiership captain's double ton at the home of Victorian cricket, the Junction oval. https://youtu.be/_pOf5eYx-1E

01.01.2022 An exciting semi final win at Templestowe Reserve tonight in the Twenty20 Topline Cricket Shield. Lions v Yarraleen CC. Defending 6/130 the Lions held Yarraleen to 9/126 and will now play Templestowe , who beat Forrest Hill, at Templestowe Reserve Tuesday 18 Feb.
