23.01.2022 Welcome Elvis!! The English bulldog. He’s so cute, and so closely related to the French bulldog. But did you know Frenchies were not actually first bred in France?! Lace makers in England were drawn to the toy version of the dog and would use the smaller pups as lap warmers while they worked. When the lace industry moved to France, they took their dogs with them. There, the English bulldogs probably bred with terriers to create bouledogues français, or French bulldogs. Frenchies are also one breed of dogs who cannot swim (as a result of their squat frame and bulbous head). What they lack in buoyancy, they make up for in cuddly cuteness

19.01.2022 Due to the current restrictions in place, we have again increased our safety measures in clinic. At this time we are only able to offer clients essential veterinary services including the alleviation of conditions causing animals pain, distress or illness. We ask that you phone ahead so that our nurses can assess your situation and secure you an appointment time if necessary.... If you are coming in for an appointment, our door will be locked. We ask that you remain in your vehicle and call the clinic when you arrive. One of our team members will be out to bring your pet inside and your appointment will be conducted over the phone with the Veterinarian. If medication is needed, the nurse will bring them out to your car along with your pet. We apologise for any inconvenience caused while we try to navigate the current situation.

19.01.2022 Welcome to Digby!! How is she so cute? Digby is an Airedale Terrier, a breed bred to possess traits that made it valuable to farming households: courage, tenacity, intelligence, hunting instinct, natural swimming abilities, and gentleness around families. This breed came to be in the 1800s due to people living by the English Aire and Wharfe Rivers having a severe vermin problem. Animals like rats, foxes, and martens would burrow through the riverbanks and invade nearby fields.... Exhausted and overrun, villages worked to create the perfect dog to flush out the pests. Because of the variety of creatures plaguing the area, local farmers decided that they needed a multi-purpose dog that could do the work of manynamely, a breed the right size to catch both a small rat and a large fox, capable of hunting on the ground or in the water. By the 1900s, the dog was considered an all-around sporting dog. As such, the dog was able to satisfy the qualifications of a pointer, spaniel, and retriever all in one!

19.01.2022 Welcome Freddie!!! Freddie is the mooost chill pup, but her ancestors were bred to be hunting dogs. Springer spaniels are named as such as they were used to flush or spring game, meaning they would chase birds into flight so that hunters would then shoot.

18.01.2022 Welcome Rufus! Rufus may look like a Corgi, but he is actually a Swedish Vallhund (which means herding or shepherd dog). Vallhunds are said to descend from dogs of the Vikings (or farm dogs in Sweden, used to herd cattle and other livestock).
