As part of the COVID19 response measures for the Child Safety Service, the Government announced a Helping Children to Stay Connected (Technology) Fund and a Flexible Active Families Fund.... Applications for both of these funds are now open until 15 May 2020. Please see below in relation to each of the funds. Helping Children to Stay Connected (Technology) Fund The Helping Children to Stay Connected Fund is available to children and young people under the custody and/or guardianship of the Secretary to support access to internet and mobile technology for communication and home learning. Carers and young persons can now apply with applications being assessed by a panel on a priority needs basis. Amounts of up to $200 per child/young person are available. The Information Sheet and Application Form are being sent out to all carer households and also available on the COVID page of the CYS Practice Manual. https://www.dhhs.tas.gov.au//cys_practic/cys_wide/covid-19 All applications are to be sent to [email protected] Flexible Active Families Fund The Flexible Active Families Fund is to support children and their families receiving family preservation or family restoration services or Intensive Family Engagement Services to access essential cleaning and hygiene products and mobile communication technologies. Application forms will not be sent to these families. CSOs and IFES Team Leaders working with families receiving preservation, restoration or IFES should identify needs for that family and complete an application on their behalf. Orders do not need to be in place to be eligible. Applications will be assessed by a panel on a priority needs basis with a cap of $250 per family. The Australia Childhood Foundation have produced a number of resources that they hope can help parents and carers manage some of the stress and help explain things in a way that children can understand.

Security Program to: grandparents raising grandchildren informal kin and Foster & Kinship Carers.
