24.01.2022 Congratulations to our Flagstone Firefoxes who competed at the FIRST Lego League National (North) today! Although the team didn’t walk away with any trophies, they were great ambassadors of the College. They problem solved & persevered to find solutions when things weren’t going their way. We didn’t leave empty handed though... Our team nominated Mr Scott Glass for the Lego League Coach/Mentor Award...& guess who won! Congratulations Mr Glass, you are absolutely amazing & deserving of this award! The team certainly had some lovely words to say about you in their nomination.

23.01.2022 Last Friday a group of Year 12s, along with three Year 8 students from our Success Program, volunteered their time and energy to run a Car Wash Fundraiser. They washed a whopping 26 cars in 2 hours, raising an outstanding $620 for their Senior Formal. Congratulations to all of those involved, including our generous FSCC staff members who paid to have their vehicle cleaned by our wonderful students! A massive thank you to PEET for sponsoring the fundraiser and Elite Liquid Waste for donating the water truck, allowing for this fundraiser to be 100% profitable!

22.01.2022 In term 3, our Green Beans team entered a campaign with Eco Schools Australia called the Young Reporters of the Environment. The aim of the campaign was to discuss and investigate environmental issues they recognised at home, in the school and wider community. Some of the students in the group produced articles to express their findings. In the first article, Alexis Newey and Grace Forrest in Year 7 investigated how the litter found around school has changed in the last 18 months, with how students purchase from local businesses. The article can be found on our website: https://bit.ly/35Gllq0

21.01.2022 Last Thursday, as part of Road Safety Week, Senior Constable Fishburn from the Logan Road Policing Unit visited our Year 12s to present the Drive 2 & 2 Program. The program outlined driving laws and the dangers associated with common distractions. For exampledid you know that if a person sends or receives a text, their eyes are off the road for approximately 5 seconds? At 100km/hour, they would have driven the length of 1.5 football fields! Students also had the opportunit...y to take the wheel in a driving simulator and drive whilst using a mobile phone. It was obvious to everyone that distractions significantly affected their driving ability, the consequences of which could be fatal. Our Year 12s learnt the importance of always driving with 2 eyes on the road and 2 hands on the wheel! Thank you Queensland Police Service, Senior Constable Farrar (our School Based Police Officer) and Senior Constable Fishburn for providing our Year 12s with some valuable messages and lessons.

20.01.2022 Yesterday a group of students attended the Tree Tops Challenge at Thunderbird Park. This group consisted of Success Program students, 2021 Year 9 and Year 12 captains and students who work with Loretta, our chaplain. The purpose of this excursion was to both reward the Success students who had met their SMART goals throughout the year around behaviour, attendance and academia; and to develop resilience, perseverance and team work skills while students completed this physically and mentally challenging course. It was incredible to see the students who had a fear of heights persevere and complete the beginners track, while others who were already confident tackle the difficult courses with enthusiasm. Furthermore our 2021 Year 12 captains had the opportunity to lead and mentor our junior students. Well done to all those involved. Ms Scull

18.01.2022 Last week, we had the pleasure of Aunty Joan and Uncle Fred visit our school, to recognise our graduates of QATSIF. QATSIF (Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Foundation) provides assistance to indigenous students for Years 11 and 12, to support their movement through senior school and into adulthood. Students who are eligible must maintain appropriate results, behaviour and effort, and participate in cultural activities within the school. The funds used by Q...ATSIF for its programs and activities are drawn from the interest earned on the original capital provided to The Public Trustee to establish the Trust. Built from the labour of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Queenslanders, under now-repealed laws, preserving this capital means the toil of previous generations will have a direct benefit to the generations that follow. Congratulations to our 2020 QATSIF graduates!

15.01.2022 Today during their social and emotional learning lesson, our Year 7 cohort participated in a cyber safety presentation. Our Head of IT showed students how to protect themselves online by using their privacy settings effectively and how to create a positive digital footprint. Our school-based police officer spoke to students about appropriate online behaviour. Additionally the schools guidance officer was on hand to help reinforce key messages. This was a valuable learning opportunity for the students as they navigate their way through high school in a digital age. Thank you to all involved in this successful presentation. ~Mrs Rose~

14.01.2022 IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM QTAC: Overnight QTAC conducted internal testing of our ATAR processes ahead of the statewide release on Saturday 19 December.
