25.01.2022 Our 30 years as The Flaming Sambucas has snuck up on me ! - it was on 1st April 1991 that we played our first show under the re-name of Flaming Sambucas for Tan...ya Powell Model Agency at The Helenic Club. (However, the origins of the band actually go back even further - to 1987 when I joined forces with Evan Jones, Katrina and Carmen). But sadly, our 30th year of the Sambos (will Facebook let me say that?) didn't quite turn out as we (or anyone) had planned. In comparative terms, 30 years might appear to be quite a long time ! - but these 30+ years seem to have gone in a flash. On behalf of my friend and band colleague of 30 years - Mick Potter : The journey of The Flaming Sambucas has been, in the main, very blessed. We have enormous gratitude and would like to give thanks to the many people whom have helped us along the way - the agents and the promoters whom have believed in us, our kind and loyal public who continually support us, the thousands of people who have entrusted in us their private functions and events - and to all of the incredibly talented band members who have come in and out of the band over that time - our friends ! This long and winding road has been exciting - (at times a challenge) - but always inspiring and always so incredibly joyous : To meet the people that we have met along the way, to see the many places that we have travelled, to take that journey with a team that is amazingly capable, and ALL in an emotionally uplifting world of humanity ! - we are very humbled. We can all say - "Thank You For The Music". With sincere love, thanks and gratitude to all. 21.01.2022 Friends, do you remember that right 43 year ago on this day - 8th of March - the historical and incredible ABBA performance was in Adelaide? Maybe you remember that or you even were there? )) If so - share your memory with us in comments. They played in Westlakes Football Stadium Football Park, now known as AAMI Stadium. Can you imagine the price of the ticket was $9.00?! :) with 21,000 tickets sold. And the audience wasn’t only inside the stadium, because about 10 thousands fans enjoyed the concert from the carpark outside! For your information, our next tribute ABBA GOLD Show is on the 9th of May at The Arkaba Hotel and it has reference to ABBA's historical Australian Tour of 1977.
