24.01.2022 Xero Adds New Features To Help Track Work-Related Expenses When your staff are working from home, how do you track their work-related expenses and get a clear real-time picture of your financials? Contractors are in the habit of recording business expenses related to the home office for tax reasons. Employees, however do not claim deductions because the employer pays for these expenses.... Xero have launched two new features to help make expense management easier. These features automate the process of recording work-related costs such as couriers, work calls, mileage or internet, in order for you to approve and reimburse them. * Mileage - this feature removes the need to record odometer readings via photo or log book. Xero calculates the travel mileage using trip start and end point. * Company card and petty cash expense recording - allows employees to categorise expenses when they are submitted, so you know what to reimburse or just reconcile. 24.01.2022 As bookkeepers, we usually work quietly behind the scenes without much interference to the businesses we work with. Our ability to work remotely these days means we often don't even step foot into the workplace of our clients. But recently, I had the pleasure of stepping into the workplace of the very entertaining DJ Peter D. It just so happens that his workplace on this occasion was at the fabulous Remuce Cafe for a trivia night raising funds for bushfire relief which Pete generously donated his time for. If anyone needs a funny, quick-witted MC for any event, then check out the video link below and look up DJ Peter D on Facebook at DJ Peterd Entertainment Plusl https://youtu.be/SijJpZWnd2E
24.01.2022 Super stoked with this huge thank you gift from one of our grateful clients. Big shout out to the team at Remuce Cafe in Bittern for just being all round legends. Your kind gesture has made our day! Thank you
23.01.2022 Common BAS Errors Will Impact Your Business Most activity statement errors are unintentional even so, such errors can have a big impact on your Business Activity Statement. Unintentional errors may result in you paying too much GST or not enough. Whether you lodge the BAS yourself or whether you use our services to lodge, its useful to understand some of the inadvertent inaccuracies that can happen http://www.flawlessfigures.com.au//common-bas-errors-will/ #flawlessfiguresbookkeeping #alleviateyourstress #baserrors
22.01.2022 Your PAYG withholding statement (IAS) is due on the 21st Some employers need to pay PAYG withholding liabilities to the ATO monthly, even if the BAS is lodged quarterly. The monthly instalment activity statement (IAS) and payment is due on the 21st, whether you are lodging your own statement or using our lodgement service. Things to review before finalising the IAS:... * Have you allocated all payroll related bank transactions to the correct accounts? * Have you checked your payroll detail reports for accuracy? * Have you classified the different payroll items such as allowances, bonuses or director fees correctly? * Have you included relevant payroll items or categories at W1 reporting field? * Do you need to include amounts such as no ABN withholding? * Have you had to prepare any special pay runs such as termination payments that require manual tax calculation? Checking the accuracy of the IAS figures each month ensures your statements are more likely to be accurate and less likely to need adjustments at the end of the financial year. This means that issuing annual payment summaries to employees and preparing your ATO payment summary annual report will be straightforward and prompt. We can assist with preparing your monthly IAS or review your business accounting systems to make sure you are correctly categorising and reporting all pay items. #flawlessfiguresbookkeeping #alleviateyourstress #payg #paygduenow #ias

19.01.2022 Its not easy to request payment right now but it is important to keep cash flowing into your business. As with all business dealings right now, a little empathy and a lot of open communication can go a long way. http://www.flawlessfigures.com.au//how-do-you-invoice-dur/ #flawlessfiguresbookkeeping #alleviateyourstress #invoiceincrisis #cashflow
18.01.2022 Your monthly activity statement is due by the 21st of this month. Use the following checklist to make sure you are ready for lodgement day: * Have you allocated all bank transactions to the correct accounts?... * Have you verified that the bank balance listed in your accounting software matches the balance in your bank account? * Do you have tax invoices and receipts for all business-related transactions? * Have you checked the GST tax codes for all transactions? * Have you checked tricky transactions like agency arrangements, insurance or overseas purchases for GST tax code accuracy? * Have you got paperwork for asset purchases or new finance arrangements? If you have to report PAYG withholding for employees, you also need to check that your payroll categories and tax calculations are correct for the quarter, (or last month for employers who lodge a monthly IAS). Checking the figures at each of the BAS reporting labels means your statements are more likely to be accurate and less likely to need GST adjustments at the end of the financial year. This results in you having a more accurate picture of your liabilities throughout the year and being able to plan accordingly. Any questions? Talk to us. We can help you set up the processes to make this area of your business easy - and you can focus on your business. #flawlessfiguresbookkeeping #alleviateyourstress

06.01.2022 We all have the same 1,440 minutes each day, but some of us achieve so much more than others. How can we free up time to help lead a better business and ultimately achieve a happier life? The top 10 time wasters: 1. Lack of clear goals.... Start by setting clear 12 month goals, then break these down into 90 day goals. Your actions each day should be steps towards achieving those 90 day goals, which will ultimately lead to the achievement of your 12 month goals. 2. A messy desk. Desk clutter results in mind clutter. Tidy your workspace each day before you leave so you don’t arrive to a mess. Also consider how paperless you are; paper becomes clutter. 3. Procrastination and shifting priorities. Spend a few minutes planning tomorrow’s tasks before you leave for the day or planning today’s tasks as soon as you arrive. Avoid unnecessary pick up and put down. Multitasking is a productivity myth. 4. Interruptions (from humans and technology). Set clear parameters to reduce distractions, e.g. turn off your email and phone notifications, only check emails between tasks, etc. If it’s urgent, they’ll call or tap your shoulder. 5. Ineffective delegation (and abdication). Ensure you give clear instructions when delegating tasks and empower others to do more for you. Responsibility still falls on you without a clear process you are setting someone up to fail which will ultimately reflect badly on you. 6. Ineffective systems. Mistakes are often attributable to ineffective systems. Involve your team and LEAN up processes where possible. Eliminate systems that don’t add value; implement new systems that aid efficiency. 7. Inability to say 'no'. We are defined not just by what we say yes to, but what we say no to. Planning helps us to say no to things that don’t align with our purpose and goals. No is a complete sentence. 8. Ineffective meetings. Ensure every meeting has a purpose, an agenda and clear objectives. Don’t stray from the agenda; refer back to the purpose if you’re going off track. Record clear outcomes and next steps in Meeting Minutes. 9. Ineffective email use. Think twice before playing email tennis. Ask yourself if a phone call would be more efficient so you don’t find yourself constantly checking for a reply. 10. Poor planning. Effective planning has three key components: a one-page plan (with goals, KPIs and required actions), regular reporting to ensure continuous improvement, and accountability. What are your biggest time wasters? Identify your top three and take ownership and responsibility to minimise them today! "Regretting wasted time is wasting more time." - Anon #flawlessfiguresbookkeeping #alleviateyourstress #avoidtimewasting

02.01.2022 One of the positive things to come out of lockdown is that businesses are forced to think outside the box. I say it's a good thing because often we get so caught up in the day to day running of the business that we often don't get the time to step back and take a good look at the business itself. One of our amazing clients continually strives to improve their business, moving and adapting with the times. As they are a catering business, they've been hit extremely hard by the ...restrictions. I'm always excited to see what clever ideas they come up with next. True to form, they've done it again with a new line of seasonings for those with specific diatary requirements and sensitive tummies! Well done Bianca Hall on always thinking outside the box. 02.01.2022 Lockdown forced us to rethink the way we operate our business. The barrier of procrastination has been removed and weve had to adopt new technology and automate our processes. Technology exists to increase efficiency, but it can be a double-edged sword. When you apply automation to an efficient operation, it will magnify the efficiency. However, if you automate an inefficient operation, it will magnify the inefficiency. In other words, we must first ensure our systems and pr...ocesses are efficient before introducing automation. http://www.flawlessfigures.com.au//efficiency-through-aut/ #flawlessfiguresbookkeeping #alleviateyourstress #automation

Its very normal to not feel OK in challenging times such as these. Watching and listening to media and social media coverage and commentary can be confronting and confusing. However, at a time when were being asked to physically distance ourselves from one another, we can make use of freed up diary time and our digital de...vices to stay connected. It is now even more important that we all promote a sense of community, reach out and ask our friends, family and colleagues, Are you OK?." https://www.youtube.com/watch #flawlessfiguresbookkeeping #alleviateyourstress #ruok
