12.01.2022 Message from Rick Meehan Hi All, For the last three years I have kept you updated on our old sailor mate Flash Glendinning regarding his health and the battle he has endured with his cancer and Leukaemia and his fortunate remission for the past 12 months. Today I bring you news that there has been a relapse of his condition with an additional infection which has unfortunately warranted him being hospitalised again in Shoalhaven Hospital. ... I visited him once again this morning and spent some considerable time with him and his lovely wife Chris. Whilst his health is poor his spirits are still high and as usual he was asking about everyone else and caring about others. His strength and more so his mental strength is unbelievable. I will keep you all informed at every stage regarding Flash. If you could send me through Facebook or messenger your good wishes and thoughts about our mate Flash, I will gladly pass them on when I see him again tomorrow. He is a fighter, and I know with all our thoughts this will assist him once again during this current hurdle he is currently going through.

10.01.2022 Details of Cook's funeral as provided by Paul Goddard follow: Further to the emails re Col Cook’s Funeral, the service will be held at 12.00 noon this Thursday 3rd September. As mentioned previously, there is limited seating at the church and unfortunately it is already fully allocated. However, any of the Navy contacts you have on your lists are welcome to join the service via Zoom if they would like to watch the proceedings. If anyone wants to be involved they simply need t...o send their name and email address to me at [email protected] I will then ensure they are registered and will be sent a link by email on the day. It would be helpful if that could be done no later than AM Wednesday. Many thanks to you folk for helping out with this. I’m sure Col has many friends out there and it’s great that you provide such a network that is so valuable on occasions like this. See more

06.01.2022 Passing of Shipmate Colin Cook Pete Smith received the following advice from Paul Goddard late yesterday. Please circulate this advice as widely as possible to the FAA community. From Paul Goddard: ... Sadly, Col passed away last night. He died peacefully in his sleep at home after a long and courageous battle over almost four years. As a courtesy, I thought it best to ask you to send the news to the ROMEO group. Col was a good friend to many of them. We don’t have any funeral details at this stage but it is likely to be next Thursday 3rd September but numbers will unfortunately be restricted. It is however, planned to have the service broadcast on Zoom and we will provide information when known. I will keep you posted. Kind Regards, Paul Goddard Vale Shipmate
