21.01.2022 The government is appointing independent assessors to review everyone on the National Disability Insurance Scheme to ensure the funding is fairly distributed and not just given to "those who can pay the most for a report". The government would introduce independent assessment from early 2021, removing the need for applicants to spend time and money on reports from various health providers to prove eligibility for a package.

The consultation paper and process, which is open until 19 October, will help address administrative and cost challenges to SIL, while making the first of many steps to create a greater focus on participant choice and control.

We are seeking an OT who specializes in providing support and assistance to people with disabilities. The OT will support our centre-based activities for people with disabilities. Responsibilities include... Conduct patient assessments and ongoing Occupational Therapy work with children and people with disabilities Working with families to identify their child’s strengths and areas of need Assisting families to develop a child’s skills through play and everyday activities Identify families and young children where risk factors exist and where parents are having difficulty coping with parenting and implement strategies to minimize the risks Coach adults in childcare or community settings to use a range of methods to know and understand each child who has a disability Train and supervise disability support workers in the community centre to provide the right care for the participants Communicate effectively with patients and their families Requirements: It is a requirement to be an AHPRA Registered Occupational Therapist Approved Occupational Therapy qualification.
