17.01.2022 For NDIS plan holders Fauna Australia supports people to work and live as an equal and develop a sense of belonging, whilst creating social opportunities through community interaction and empowerment. Our program focuses on utilising the known therapeutic benefits of animal interaction and incorporating the sensory stimulation of The Otways. ... Fauna Australia is here to help people with a disability: * increase their value status in the community * become actively involved in their community through promoting their skills and abilities * enhance their independence and self-confidence * learn occupational skills through interests * participate in meaningful work * find purpose and enjoy life. We focus on activities that are rewarding, pleasant or satisfying which aim to reverse the patterns of avoidance, withdrawal and inactivity that make certain symptoms worse in many conditions. 14.01.2022 Progressive Pathways daily activities for NDIS participants : support for social and community participation in a safe, tailored environment. Getting out in fresh air, gentle exercise and animal assisted programs are all evidence based ways to reduce stress, anxiety and depression. These pathways to mental health are especially important for individuals who may have difficulties with other structured interventions. Anxiety often occurs in comorbidity with other conditions. ...It is up to 40% higher in people with an intellectual disability than the general population (Giuliania & Jacquemettaza, 2017). In people with ASD, anxiety often creates immense impairment and distress (Vasa & Mazurek, 2015). Our Progressive Pathways Program assists by allowing the parasympathetic nervous system to calm down the bodys stress response (fight or flight) through stimulation through breathing and positive hormonal responses. It also assists in minimising the pattern of avoidance, withdrawal and inactivity that can continue a dysfunctional coping mechanism. We have a couple of days available per week for individualised support plans. Travel can be arranged from Colac and surrounds. Pm for details.

Monday was a trip to Geelong botanical gardens and foreshore where we saw plenty of boats and we even saw a shark. Lunch was pizza hut and a delicious Wendys shake. 07.01.2022 Chloe the Southern Hairy Nosed Wombat had a trip to the dentist yesterday. Thanks to Dr Leigh at Rhode's Vet Clinic. Chloe has always had issues as she was orphaned when her mum was hit by a car in SA. Wombats teeth continually grow, and because her crooked tooth doesn't line up, she can't wear it down properly. She was very sleepy last night after her anaesthetic.
