22.01.2022 Meet Lou Lou is a powerhouse Pilates HIIT and Power Fusion teacher at our Ascot Vale studio, as well as a Personal Trainer! Her fave pilates exercises are hundreds prep or crab walk with a band ... yeah tough ones! Lou is also an enthusiastic Yoga student and loves half-moon and tree pose. When she is not making us all work up a sweat in the studio, Lou likes to wind down with a relaxing bath complete with himalayan salt, essential oils and scented candles or, curl up with ...a good book or movie and pair of fluffy socks! During lockdown, Lou has been reading the fiction book Girl, Woman, Other by Bernardine Evaristo and non-fiction book Natives: race and class in the ruins of empire by Akala. Before becoming a fitness fanatic, Lou used to want to be a vet or an actress and writer. She still loves the arts, and still REALLY loves animals, with two big dogs here in Melbourne called Titan and Tango, and Binx the cat back home in the UK where Lou is originally from. 21.01.2022 September 2012 was when the Bikram Yoga Lynbrook was started which later became our studio Flex Studios Lynbrook! Coincidentally it was around this time in 2012 that Bek & I took our first Bikram class and our love affair with Hot Yoga began! 21.01.2022 Meet Irene We love this story, because after being a committed student at Flex Studios for a number of years (before it was even called Flex Studios!), Irene recently completed her Yoga Teacher Training and is now on the Flex team teaching Yoga Flow. She is still an avid student (as all good teachers are) but we are so glad she made the transition to teacher too. Irenes favourite yoga pose is Wheel pose, or any good backbend When she was younger Irene wanted to be a vet, f...ashion designer, artist and ... a pro wrestler (yeah, we didnt know either)! Irene does work in the fashion industry for her day job, and still has a love of animals with two pets, Santi and Donnie. Santi is a 10 year old German shepherd who loves playing footy or in her pool, or sometimes both at the same time. Donnie is a special little 5 year old cat with a brain injury who loves cuddles and watching TV (same Donnie, same!). During lockdown you can probably find Irene still working hard from home, or reading "Acid for the Children" by Flea with a soy latte or a soy chai in hand. 21.01.2022 You may have heard some news yesterday that suggested we might be getting back to the studio a little sooner than we originally thought! We heard it too and we spent much of the day looking for further information and some clarity but unfortunately no further information has been released yet. What we do know is this: Fitness Australia have received confirmation from the Victorian Government that yoga studios/gyms/fitness centres can reopen under heavy restrictions in Step 3... of the roadmap to recovery. This is expected to happen sometime from 26 October if thresholds are met of less than an average of 5 daily cases state-wide (over the 14-day period prior) and less than five of unknown transmission during that time (state-wide total). We dont like to come to you without all the information - and to be honest at the moment there isnt much. Some are suggesting that it may mean we can go back to live streaming/filming from our studio (not allowed under the current restrictions) and some are hopeful it will mean we can have real-life, face to face classes. We simply do not know yet, but we are hoping for the latter. Rest assured, as always, when we know - you will know. We spend a lot of time looking into this stuff, researching and learning so we can prepare whats next for Flex, our teachers and our members. Lets hope we can welcome you back soon! #MoveSweatUnwind

A lot of the painting, furniture building and upgrades that have been made around both our studios are as a big thanks to him! 17.01.2022 This is a little throwback picture from August 2018 - before we had purchased either studio. I remember the moment very clearly when Bek and I spoke about starting our own studio - it was similar to many conversations we had had before about starting our own business but this time it felt a bit different. This time it had that element of fire and passion about it. So we started looking at studios - we explored all options. Empty spaces that we could build ourselves, joining ...a franchise, or purchasing an existing studio and making it our own. We started to build our business plan and brainstorm what we might call our studio. We came up with so many options but we just kept coming back to Flex Studios. Here is a first draft of our logo that I designed a few month laters in August 2018 - we tweaked it so many times between then and when we finally unveiled it in December 2019. The word Flex incorporates so much to us - do you want to hear more about why we chose the name Flex? #MoveSweatUnwind #FlexStudiosAustralia

First and foremost, we want to send our love and condolences to anyone who has lost a loved one during this time, whether from Coronavirus or otherwise. 14.01.2022 Meet Gin You will find her at our Lynbrook studio getting the glutes firing in a Mat Pilates class! Passionate about functional pilates, her fave exercise is anything that works the glutes, but mostly The Clam and all its variations. If youve ever taken Ginelles class youll understand that she said "the harder the better!" when it comes to talking about her favourite exercises (although in person she says it with her Kiwi accent). Late last year, Ginelle set off on an ad...venture with her partner and young son and has been enjoying an active lifestyle on the move since then. We are excited that Ginelle will be returning to Melbourne soon and look forward to having her back on the mat at Flex. 11.01.2022 Meet Uali You will find Uali at our Lynbrook studio teaching Yin or Yoga Flow classes and her favourite pose is Childs Pose She shared with us that creating rituals is great for self care so she has created some great rituals during the COVID shutdowns!... As a little girl she wanted to grow up and be a cowboy. In the late 70s there were so many cowboy movies on afternoon television that shed sit and watch during school holidays. The cowboys always solved all the problems, were seen as the heros and she loved the way they sauntered into town with all the confidence in the world. Her coffee order is Almond Cappuccino and her coffee name is Lady Penelope because she says "no one can pronounce my name and because I like to have a little giggle to myself when the barista yells out..."Lady Penelope"!" She has a super cute cat called Mr Charlie Chang who has his own insta gallery and likes to join her whenever she gets on the mat at home. #MoveSweatUnwind

From May 1st, you will be able to book your classes 7 days in advance When booking your classes please remember: Be mindful and only book into classes you are sure you can attend... Utilise the waitlist feature to maximise your chance of getting into classes that are booked out (make sure you have email or text notifications switched on!) Here are some important things to bring to the studio: Your yoga mat - we have these to purchase at the studio if you don't already own one A large bath or beach towel to cover your mat - this is essential for hot classes and recommended for all other classes... A bottle of water - if you forget yours at home we have bottles of water available to purchase at the studio. Glass is not permitted in the studio. Any props you'd like to use - we supply weights for our Pilates, Power and Barre classes. While not essential you may like to bring along blocks, straps, or bolsters to our Yoga classes. We have a selection of props available to purchase at the studio. A fresh towel and a change of clothes if you'd like to utilise our shower facilities after class Out of respect to your teacher, your classmates and your practice, everything other than mat, towel, water and props must be kept in our free and convenient lockers located just outside the hot room. This includes your bags and mobile phones. Leave the distractions of the day outside and take the time to #MoveSweatUnwind.
