With technology now being a huge part of our lives. We see and hear a lot about children sitting and being on screens all the time and the lack of activity that children do . We need to look at ways where we can put this to our advantage in our everyday lives. When Children sit at school at a desk or at home doing homework or projects they dont have to use much energy. This can contribute to many other issues such as behaviour and concentration to name a couple. With With ADD ( Attention Deficit Disorder) and ADHD ( Attention Deficit Disorder) on the rise along with many other Learning Challenges we need to look at ways we can assist in helping these children learning and develop to there full potential. With the schools on board now we to as parents can look at ways we can help in the home . A Standing Desk is a great option as it can assist in those home learning projects and work loads from school not become such a hard task . When children sit at a desk all day , they dont have to use much energy they can become day dreamy or distract themselves and others . Executive Functioning Skills are a huge challenge . Simply put "We think Better on Our Feet". Standing Desks have huge benefits : Assists in enabling increased concentration . Enables the child to think about what they are doing and not about what others are doing. :Being able to stand and swing and move there legs around assists in calming the brain enhancing the brains ability to think better. : Standing sets up the Brain for learning . Essentially waking it up. Many Occupational therapists are also recommending standing desks now not only for the above mentioned benefits but for enhancing and developing childrens core muscles and gross motor skills . These are an essential part of a childs developed if these are not not strong then learning becomes a challenge for the children . There is a multitude of benefits . With some fantastic speakers from Thankyou and The Man Cave, there was a lot to process and contemplate as a result of attending the forum last weekend. Arranged by Vollie, the social impact forum had more than 250 attendees who are all motivated to apply really innovative ideas to solve all sorts of social problems, we were left absolutely buzzing.
