21.01.2022 how cool is this

19.01.2022 Quilts Stolen: There was a robbery at the Rotary Youth Hall in Wauchope last Saturday night (28th September) when the locked storeroom of the Wauchope Patchwork... Quilters (WPQ) was broken into and along with other equipment, 15 QUILTS were stolen. These quilts had been made by members of WPQ for the Palliative Care Ward of the Wauchope Hospital where every patient has a quilt placed on their bed to help make their last few days a little more homely. If you hear of anyone having recently received or been offered a quilt, or see them being sold at Markets etc, please advise Port Police on 65830199 or WPQ on 0418 218 784. Also, one of our members, who was unable to carry her Janome sewing machine to quilting each week due to recent shoulder surgery left her machine in the storeroom and it was also stolen.......and WPQ members had been slipping the odd coin or note in a money box to help support an under-privileged residential school in the back blocks of Bali - this was also stolen! Someone has to know something - you can't dispose of 15 quilts without it being seen. Google Wauchope Patchwork Quilters to see some of our masterpieces that are similar to the quilts stolen. The quilts in the following photos are not the exact same quilts that were stolen but the stolen ones would be very similar - colourful, mainly geometric, around about 150cm x 170cm (60" x 68") in size. They all had a label stating they were made by Wauchope Patchwork Quilters but I suppose they would be removed. See more

01.01.2022 For those who are able to knit, crochet or sew, this info is for. From what I can gather, the wildlife rescue services are in need of knitted pouches made from ...pure wool yarn in 8 or 5 ply. They also need a cotton liners that gets placed inside the pouches. These liners get washed regularly so they need quite a few of them. The liners can be made from cotton fabric or polar fleece. Little joeys can't regulate their body temps and their skin is also extremely sensitive so the fabric needs to be soft. The pouches can be made in various sizes as our beautiful little Aussie marsupials are a varied and vibrant and cuddly wuddly lot. https://www.wildlifevictoria.org.au//Joey_Pouch_Making_Gui https://www.wires.org.au//wildlife-f/making-possum-pouches https://wildcare.org.au/Documents/pouch-instructions.pdf If you know your way around a sewing machine, liners for the pouches are very much needed. Please, apart from the polar fleece, no synthetics. This is really important. Just go with whatever project works best for you. The projects are all very straight forward. Anything you manage to whip up will be hugely appreciated. Many many thanks again. Lots of love and appreciation. Jac xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo you: I am happy to be the collection point.
