25.01.2022 Week 2: focus on dental health. Other than Oaten or Timothy hay, do you know you can give them wood to help wear down their teeth? Of course, not just any old wood. A rule of thumb is: most fruit trees, BUT if it comes from a tree that oozes milky sap then forget it, and pesticide free of course.... Poopsy, Misty, and Patty-Cake enjoy nomming on a willow wreaths, rose branches, lavender, and Rosemary. Willow wreaths with a variety of weave-ins are available from www.hoptoitbunnies.com

24.01.2022 Who wants to name a baby bunny? Bluey and Alice are running a raffle for a chance to name 1 of 5 baby bunnies. Closes August so get in soon or they'll all be named Boris.

24.01.2022 Week 6: Focus on floor coverings. Last week we talked about the importance of adequate flooring for rabbits. Carpet, although usually soft and provides traction, can be costly to replace when damaged by digging, chewing, and soiling. The good news is there are some very good floor coverings available that are suitable for rabbits. Others however, just aren't. We'll discuss some options each day this week.... #Fluffytime #bunnycare #rabbithealth #indoorrabbits #housebunnies

22.01.2022 Week 6: specific floor coverings Memory foam bath mats Pros: These are widely available in shops from Bunnings to Ikea.... They can be washed in the washing machine or pressure hosed down. They should have non-slip coating on the under-side preventing it from shifting even under zoomies. They are also soft and absorbs pressure. Cons: Takes a while to dry. Some bunnies have a penchant for destroying cushy things and will love to destroy this mat.

22.01.2022 Happy Bunny Butt Friday. This is Poopsy's bottom. He is my first bunny and is also a tri-foot. He's been unwell this week, so please forgive me for not doing a focused post this week. Next week's focus: flooring. #Fluffytime #bunnybutt #indoorbunnies #bunniesaremylife

22.01.2022 Week 7 wrap-up: focus on floor coverings Vet beds Sold by the piece or by the metre. Vet beds are actually a piece of special mat rather than a "bed". ... It is made of polyester and any liquid seeps right through it leaving the mat dry so it is great for pets with mobility issues making them prone to urine scald. The polyester piled are also very plush and robust which makes them great for relieving pressure sores like sore hocks. They also wash and dry quickly - qualities we bunny owners look for. #fluffytime #rabbitcaretips #bunnycare

21.01.2022 Meet Sir Chubbs and Hollycopter. Sir Chubbs was a hard nut to crack but by the end of the session he accepted my apology head touch Hollycopter is just the sweetest and my gosh she's cute in pics. #melbournerabbitgrooming #rescuebunny #cutelops

21.01.2022 Week 5: focus on flooring B With all the different types of flooring that people have in homes which are suitable for rabbits? In short none of them alone are good for rabbits. Yes that's right even if you have carpet. Surfaces that are hard or slippery are definitely not good for rabbits feet. Carpet although it soft and provides traction can be damaged by your rabbits.... The best way to co-inhabit with rabbits in the home is to provide suitable floor coverings. This will be discussed further in our next posts. #fluffytime #bunnycare #indoorbunnies #indoorrabbits #houserabbitsworldwide #partofthefamilypartofthehome

20.01.2022 Week 3: focus on Carriers There are a myriad of designs, shapes, sizes, and construction for carriers on the market. So what do I look for in a carrier? #Fluffytime #bunnycare #morethanapet

20.01.2022 Week2: Focus on dental. Finishing off the week by showing Poopsy loudly munching on fresh grass. Grass is great for bunnies. Although it seems soft to us, it has the same roughage as hay so is great for bunnies' teeth too. ... I like to give mine grass every fortnight for a switchup to their usual greens. It's also lower in calories than salad greens. #Fluffytime #bunnycare #indoorbunnies #rabbithealth #morethanapet

20.01.2022 It's only Daisy's third time being brushed but she's already learning that it's not the worst thing in the world so long as she gets to nestle against me and gets given breaks. #Fluffytime #cutelops #indoorbunnies #morethanapet

18.01.2022 End of week 1 V2Lvl4. A quick look at dinner time with Poopsy, Misty and Patty-Cake. Tonight we have coriander, Aldi salad leaf mix, gai choi, and some julienne carrots. I like to use the julienne peeler - only 3 shaves of carrots but makes it look like there's a lot.

17.01.2022 Week 5: focus on flooring (part A) Comfortable flooring is vital to bunny health. The first 3 photos show some conditions that can result from poor flooring. In order: sore hocks; extended sore hocks; out-turned toes. #bunnycare #morethanapet #bunnylove

16.01.2022 Lucky is feeling positively petite. Thanks to the dedication of her mum and dad to help her lose weight, Lucky now runs faster, has more energy, and her fur is in the best condition ever. #fluffytime #morethanapet #healthyrabbits

15.01.2022 Week 7: focus on floor coverings Foam mats aka gym mats Pros:... Lightweight and relatively easy to clean. Big mats are sturdy and don't shift about. Adaptable to the floor area. Available in a range of colors and patterns. Cons: Not durable for bunnies that have a habit of chewing and digging at rubberised things. Traps heat in summer.

14.01.2022 Sage decided it was high time that I took photos of her sultry gaze and silky ears, so she posed and posed and posed for me. You'd be feeling like a supermodel too if you'd just had an hour long head massage and #defluffing. @sagelybun #adoredbunny #melbournerabbits #houserabbit

14.01.2022 These two black beauties were treated to their first spaw-w day too. Coats brushed, nails trimmed, and bottoms shaved. Their mummy said they did zoomies and binkies all night. #defluffed #adoptedbunnies #melbournerabbitgroomer

14.01.2022 Vakoo is loving this Deluxe Snuggle Mat. It's got heaps different hidey areas for pellets and treats to satisfy your bunny's foraging instincts. Get one from our website in the Bio.... #Fluffytime #snufflemat #bunnycare #bunnytoy #bunnytreat

13.01.2022 Week 6: Focus on floor coverings Sufficient floor coverings aim to prevent or reduce sore hocks which is a pressure sore. These pressure sores often start as a small red bald spot on the heel. It feels like it's just skin and bone... because it is. It is not callous like humans get on their heels (Yes, I actually read someone claiming the dead skin humans get on their heels is the same as sore hocks on rabbits. It is not). Sore hocks can be caused by long nails, uneven body... weight distribution, and genetics. We can't do much about the rabbit's genetics to fix the sore hock, but we can do something about their nails and flooring you help relieve the pressure on those heels. Things to look for in floor coverings for rabbits are: easy to clean; stable (won't shift about); soft; and has some density to it. Blankets therefore, are not ideal because it shifts about even when weighted down along the sides. Many also lack sufficient cushioning.

12.01.2022 Week 6 or 7... I've lost count Focus on floor coverings. Plastic carpet cover: This is usually sold by the meter and typically used in carpeted hallways to protect the carpet in this high traffic area. ... Pros: It's very easy to clean. Cons: It is rough and does not provide protection from impact. I wouldn't recommend this for use as bunny flooring. #fluffytime #bunnycare #indoorbunnies

08.01.2022 Week 6: specific floor covering Play mats: These are often made of coated foam. Pros:... Easy to clean. They absorb pressure. They are soft. Cons: They slide about unless weighted down along all the sides. They get hot and hold onto heat in warm weather. Bunnies that like to chew and dig will love bunstructing this. #fluffytime #bunnycare #rabbithealth #morethanapet #housebunnies #indoorrabbits

07.01.2022 Did you know that rabbit refuges exist in Melbourne? @blueyandalice is located in Cockatoo, an easy, short, and beautiful drive about an hour out of Melbourne. Can you help clean litter boxes? Pop-up hay and water? Feed greens and pellets? You learn so much and it's a hugely rewarding experience. I volunteer regularly to help the bunnies awaiting their furever homes to feel comfortable and avoid blockage from fur. These are some pics that I was able to take. On very busy da...ys, grooming takes priority over happy snaps. #Fluffytime #rabbitsofmelbourne #melbournerabbits #volunteermelbourne #adoptedbunnies #adoptdontshop #adoptedbunny #volunteering

06.01.2022 Finn is still ever so inquisitive. I keep brushing while he sniffs and bops everything on the table. Hehe. Check out the couple pics with Bunzo. #defluffed #indoorbunnies #melbournerabbits #bunnylove

05.01.2022 Wrap up of week 7: focus on floor coverings Carpet tiles, widely available now in a myriad of colors. Unfortunately, not available in different piles. They are very short pile carpets and are quite rough. Next to no impact protection for bunnies. #fluffytime #bunnycare #rabbitcaretips

04.01.2022 A good reason to buy toys and treats for your bunnies and support an active rabbit refuge in Victoria.

04.01.2022 Week 1 of Level4 Melb restrictions. Focus on food. This is typical of what I give my 3 buns twice daily. I have a mini a dwarf, and a dwarf cross and this is just over 1 packed cup of greens. There's celery tops and stalks de-veined, bok choi, Chinese brocolli, coriander, and about half a cabbage leaf chopped up.... Cabbage, brocolli, cauliflower and brussel sprouts are known to cause gas in bunnies. So if you feed these to your buns at all it should be in very small quantities and infrequently.

04.01.2022 Autumn enjoying a face massage after a big grooming session. #Fluffytime #bunniesofmelbourne #agoutirabbit

02.01.2022 Gentle Autumn got #defluffed today. Lots of her fur everywhere. Her fur color is amazing - there are bands of color on every stand. #Fluffytime #moultingseason #fluffybunnies #melbournegrooming

01.01.2022 Handsome Maze did not weave his usual cuteness magic on me today. Instead, he was simply intent in me hurrying up to #defluff him of his thick coat. #fluffytime #rabbitgrooming

01.01.2022 Week 7 wrap-up: focus on floor coverings Floor rugs aka area rugs Rugs are great, they come in a range of colours and you can usually find a design to match your home decore.... I recommend that lowest pile for use in rabbit enclosures and habitats, be low-pile rugs. The photos are 2 examples of low-pile rugs. The first has a non-slip backing and washes easily with a pressure hose. Why not flat pile? They wash even eaiser. Well, it's because it's flat there's no pressure absorption. They also tend to be quite rough. #fluffytime #bunnycare #rabbithealth #rabbitcaretips
