22.01.2022 This is a post from my personal page...it may contain a few not quite politically correct words but please do not take offence. I have something not so nice to share with you all. Facebook wouldnt let me share it so Im just going to copy and paste........ Well December hasnt quite been the best month weve ever had. Santa has decided to be a complete Bellend and quite frankly he can shove his present up his ass!! As some of you may know, I had pain in my side two weeks ag...o which I attended the ED for and they sent me home with a pulled muscle. Turns out that pulled muscle is actually lesions on my liver which have caused the liver to expand and its pushing against my rib cage. I have had numerous blood tests, X-rays, peed in cups, an ultrasound, a CT scan, been through a yucky bowel prep treatment, had a colonoscopy and unfortunately for me it has shown I have bowel cancer which has jumped to my liver. I was officially diagnosed on Wednesday evening, saw the oncologist on Thursday and spent Friday receiving my first dose of chemo. We are not hanging around, we are fighting this mofo with everything we have. And there is hope for a full recovery after numerous chemo sessions and surgeries. Some people have messaged and asked questions, followed up on those questions and been told as things changed. Some people have been messaged out the blue and given the news. Some people may have expected to be told this kind of news personally and been disappointed. Just know that to sit and type this once is hard enough, to sit and message everyone is impossible, to call and actually say the words out loud, mind blowingly torturous. Anyone who knows me knows I cry at adverts on tv ffs, now imagine my snotfest of the last few days/weeks and you get the idea. I have the most amazing husband, kids (including Cayla) and parents who have stepped up and been there for me every step of the way and through every tear. Theyve helped me laugh when I really needed to and also to fight with everything I have! There is a little feisty Scottish ginger deep inside of me right now who is currently battling against the bullshit but she will emerge very soon and show this holy mother of crapola the door out!! You can stick with me or you can bail, you wont be judged. I have no energy to waste on other peoples feelings. I can only concentrate on me and my little family for now and ingest all the positivity you can send my way. I dont want negativity or sorrow. I want kick ass or you got this or insert lots of sweary words here. Make me laugh, go on!!! You can visit me if you like and are prepared to join the temporary snotfest but please only bring good vibes, hugs and possibly some chocolate buttons Much love Wee Gillzy xx

21.01.2022 A little update from the newly crowned Ginja Ninja Warrior Princess I am currently hooked up to round four of this chemo journey and things are heading in the right direction. All nasty side effects are under control with a concoction of drugs. I now rattle when I walk but if they make me feel ok I can live with that. The only side effect which we are now working on combatting is weakness in my hands and fingers. One of the chemo drugs commonly known as nasty bastard is c...ausing tingling in my fingertips which also sometimes go completely numb and also numbness/weakness in my arms and hands. Oncologist is on top of it and experimenting with dosage levels to try and combat it. The downside is I dont have the hand strength to create pretty flowers or even attempt corsages for ball season, Im a bit gutted Ive had to let people down but its just impossible to create those fiddly little buggers with shaky hands. But on the plus side, I started this journey with a cancer blood marker of 770, in an average healthy human this number should be under 5!, after round two it had dropped to 400 and yesterday I was told after round three it has now dropped to 200!!! Still not quite 5 but Im kicking butt as hard as I can Thank you for all the lovely messages and offers of support and help - you all rock Gillian (thats totally me modelling for the photo ) See more

21.01.2022 Unfortunately things are not going according to plan with my health & I will be undergoing more tests next week. Sorry to say this means I will be unable to do any more deliveries until next year. Thank you everyone for your ongoing support and recommendations in 2019, I truly appreciate you all ... I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year Gillian x

Unfortunately I got told this week that the cancer has returned to my liver and the fight starts again Time to pull up the big girl pants and get on with it

17.01.2022 Ill probably be fast asleep when it ticks over to a new year and a whole new decade so Id like to take this opportunity to thank you all for the custom and support during 2019. Also, thank you for all the beautiful messages of comfort and support after recent events. Im determined that in 2020 Flutterby will function as normal but there may be a few days here and there where its just not possible. I have no idea what is ahead really and will be taking things one day at... a time. Hopefully there wont be too much disruption. I had planned to be closed until at least the 13th January before all this kicked off so well see what happens after that. Have a fabulous celebration tonight and Ill see you all next year

16.01.2022 Sorry but I’m going to have to delay re-opening Flutterby for now. I start round 3 of chemo on Wednesday which floors me for a few days afterwards. Seems silly to open for two days then close again until the following week. I’m still getting used to what these little bags of poison do to my wee body and it’s hard to judge after only two rounds as they’ve both affected me in completely different ways and with completely different side effects. I spent two nights in hospital last week dealing with some of those As my beautiful friend Ruth pointed out: You have to think of them as little liquid warriors fighting on your side. They might be clumsy little fuckers that take out a few good bits but their heart is in the right place She gets me

16.01.2022 The end is finally in sight for this little warrior It’s now been 3 weeks since I underwent an 8 hour surgery to remove the half of my liver that had been invaded by a couple of nasties. Recovery is underway but yikes it hurts. 09.01.2022 6 months since diagnosis and all is going well. This little Ginja Ninja Warrior Princess is kicking some serious butt. I had my last chemo treatment on Wednesday and now its a waiting game for scans and colonoscopy to show the outcome of all this crap. 08.01.2022 I realised today that its been 6 months since my last delivery day Things are going well although my little body might protest about that statement Despite the numerous side effects, I am making good progress. Im delighted to tell you that my cancer marker is now at the lowest it can be, 1, just 1, from a starting point of 770 thats pretty impressive!! I have one more round of poisoning to go then its scan time. Surgery was cancelled in April due to close proximity ...of a large blood vessel so hopefully the last 4 rounds will have shrunk it more and will enable surgery to go ahead. It has been a crazy time both in everyday life and throughout the flower industry. Flowers seem to have been in short supply and prices have gone a bit nuts so I seem to have picked the ideal time to be ill. Hopefully by the time I have mended things will have returned to normal. 03.01.2022 So most of my hair is missing (still there but mega thin), my hands are totally screwed and my whole body itches like a mofo but there is a positive side....... My bowel tumour has been obliterated, gone, kaput, disappeared. The little scar tissue it has left behind is made of totally normal cells, no dodgy malarkey down there. Meaning one less surgery for me as there is now nothing to remove. My liver tumours have both more or less halved in size (71mm now 32mm and 46mm now... 25mm) and surgery is a go, just need to wait on a date now for him to remove half of my liver There have been more than a few shitty days but the whole thing has been totally worth it for these results. Ginja Ninjas rule
