20.01.2022 IRT's New Zealand flights set to resume! After successful negotiations between New Zealand and Australian authorities, New Zealand equine exports are set to resume early next month. Horse flights from New Zealand were temporarily suspended due to a positive case of equine piroplasmosis being discovered in a horse set for export.... We have been working diligently with the authorities to quickly resume flights which means horses will now be exported under new certification conditions. Future shipments will see a slightly longer lead in time due to the additional testing required for piroplasmosis. We are pleased to resume our NZ flights and offer you our world-class airfreight service again soon! For more information or booking enquiries please contact IRT NZ at [email protected] or contact our IRT NZ representative Tess Fahey at [email protected] +64 21 784 281

09.01.2022 As everyone would be aware the bushfires are having a terrible impact in Australia. While the fire services, in particular the voluntary fire service men and women have done an incredible job, fires continue to threaten rural and urban areas. Dr Amy Little, our Global Veterinary Advisor did some research for us on how to care for horses in these smokey conditions, which are also affecting livestock in New Zealand. Amy discovered this article from UC Davis which we found intr...estesting and thought our followers would too. https://www.vetmed.ucdavis.edu//guidelines-horses-exposed-

09.01.2022 Departing IRT UK & Europe Chief Leaves Tremendous Legacy. Today International Racehorse Transport (IRT) acknowledged Jim Paltridge’s remarkable achievements in the world’s equine industry, as he departs IRT to manage his outside business interests, including a family farm in South Australia. In 1983 Jim Paltridge joined IRT and was immediately instrumental in establishing the company’s presence in the United States, opening an office in Los Angeles, followed by satellites in... Lexington and New York. In 1992 Jim left the US, to take over IRT’s UK office, subsequently opening another branch in Germany. Major achievements include; managing the European end of the stallion shuttle to Australia and New Zealand each year; as well as aiding the Australian Spring Racing Carnival’s growth into a truly international sporting event. Quentin Wallace, Founder of IRT said Jim has been a major contributor to IRT’s development as a strong, global agency, for the shipping of horses worldwide. He will be sorely missed. Chris Burke, current managing Director of IRT Australia, added that We celebrate the significant role Jim played in the globalization of IRT and look forward to building on his many achievements. With Jim’s departure, IRT has announced that Martin Coakes will be the new head of operations, for the recently formed IRT GB and IRT Europe, with its ownership and governance now falling under IRT Global Holdings Group. Thank you Jimbo and best of luck in your future endeavours.
