22.01.2022 With all this cloudy weather it's time we spoke about UV and why it's important. It can still be a high UV factor even when you can't see the sun shining. Unlike light or heat, you cannot feel UV radiation, which is what makes it so deadly. UV can penetrate clouds too, so your skin can sustain a lot of damage from UV before you even notice. UV is measured in strength through the UV index, which can be found on weather forecast websites like http://www.bom.gov.au/uv/ Protectio...n is recommended (sunscreen, hats, glasses, covering clothing, you know the drill!) when the UV index reaches 3 or higher, so keeping an eye on the UV throughout the day will let you know how strong it is, and when to stay inside or in the shade and protect your skin. Using a broad-spectrum sunscreen daily with a Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of 50+ can help provide you with extra protection when you are out and about in the open. If you are not sure what kind of sunscreen will be best for you, or you have sensitive skin, have a chat to our team and we can help you find a sunscreen solution! See more

19.01.2022 As we start to get back to life, let’s make sure we’re not also getting back to influenza. Influenza usually peaks in Australia during August1 so there is still time to vaccinate. Health authorities have recommended that all Australians aged 6 months or older should receive flu vaccinations this year to reduce the risk of contracting the flu and COVID-19 at the same time.2* *Influenza vaccination is not indicated for the prevention of COVID-19.
17.01.2022 Flu shots now in store. Phone for a booking or call in. Available today. Vaccinator pharmacist available all day Wednesday.
16.01.2022 Planning on doing a bit of gardening this spring? Grass and pollen allergies can affect those who suffer from them when it comes to tending the garden, but there are lots of ways to reduce your exposure and keep healthy this Spring! It is wise to avoid mowing the grass if you can, and stay inside when it is being mown. If you are the only one who can mow it, remember to wear a mask and take a non-drowsy antihistamine before you start that mower. Gardening in the mid-aftern...oon is also a wiser idea than gardening in the morning, as pollen counts can be higher as the morning dew evaporates. Choosing the right plants for your garden can help too. Plant flowers and trees that are insect-pollinated, rather than wind-pollinated to reduce the amount of pollen blowing around in your yard. If you need help with allergy symptom relief and prevention, have a chat to our Pharmacists today. See more

11.01.2022 When was the last time you thought about beets? Beetroot is BRILLIANT! Red beetroots have been ranked as one of the 10 most potent antioxidant vegetables and are also one of the richest sources of glutamine, an amino acid, essential to the health and maintenance of the intestinal tract. Beetroot is rich in fibre, and the greens (which you can eat, cook them up just like spinach) are rich sources of calcuim, iron, and vitamins A and C. Though you can find them throughout the year, they are at their sweetest and most tender between June and October, so right now is perfect! Try working some beets into the menu for next week
