This gentle male koala was burnt in a fire where the flames, radiant heat and smoke was right beside the Pacific Highway (major highway con...necting Sydney to Brisbane) just out of Nabiac 100 kms south of Port Macquarie. Austin ran onto the road and thankfully a quick thinking motorist stopped the traffic, grabbed Austin and brought him straight up to us. Nabiac Austin has healed from his burns and thoroughly enjoys his daily supplementary fluids. See more

And now that we're open, we are very proud to announce we have not one, not two,... not three, but four more Koala Joeys here at the Billabong Zoo. Our world-renowned Koala breeding Centre has been successfully breeding Koalas since 1999 and it’s so exciting to see four new smiling faces out and about here at the Billabong. We made a quick little video of them getting weighed so you can get a chance to meet them. And one lucky fan will get the chance to name one, so stay tuned for that. Salty Crew Kiosk crew are making some improvements and will move back from their temporary shipping container in early September The Marine Rescue heroes are fitting out their space and will be back in business in a couple of weeks And our LifeGuard legends are moving their gear back over the next couple of weeks The temporary toilets are being removed this morning. 01.01.2022 We've had a few big days at the bungalow. After installing a new lounge we found the tv needed replacing, and the fridge! A few extra cleaning and hygiene routines and we are all done.so is Elsie. Just like a good kid she's sound asleep before we hit the highway.
