21.01.2022 Social stories are excellent teaching resources..... Below is a social story pertaining to communication.

19.01.2022 This week I had clinical supervision, and one of the topics of discussion was self care; taking time out of my day to ensure my cup is full. When working with families, my focus is informal support selfcare, because if they cease to be able to function, how are they meant to keep going and support their loved ones. Yes, the families i support struggle to find that time amongst the appointments, phone calls, meetings and work. But when i set a task for the informal support to... do something for themselves, i follow up and ask what they have done. This post is my accountability post; i switched off my work phone at 1630, had a nap and am enjoying sometime at the beach whilst my son snorkles Enjoy your weekend, remember do something for yourselves. 08.01.2022 Its all about team work with this creation.... Myself and a Behaviour Support Practitioner (fellow Developmental Educator) created this visual story for a mutual person we support - Developmental Educator's are renowned for working as a team to assist the people we support to reach their goals - whatever they maybe. The Practitioner devised and created the visual story, and i had the hard job of laminating and binding it ... Now im off to go read this visual story to the participant, to assist in preparing them for their next step in their life If you are looking for a Developmental Educator - please look on our DEAI website https://www.deai.com.au/developmental-educators-and-the-nat and there is a list there #teamwork #developmentaleducator #resources #visualstory #lifetransitions #pracitioner #holistic #outcomes #personfocused #personfirst #focus

06.01.2022 This week has been a week to celebrate the work of Developmental Educators - as the week draws to a close today, i just wanted to put my 2 cents worth into celebrating this amazing profession. Being a Developmental Educator has meant that i have been able to support and work alongside some of the most amazing individuals, their families and their formal supports. It is a profession that is vast and ever changing. We are specialist within the disability sector - with skillset...s in various different areas. If you want to know more about what a DE is or what we do, check out the DEAI website - you can also look at that website to find a local DE................ Or i am happy to meet with you and discuss it with you face to face. ps i will be properly introducing myself soon - with a picture, so you can put a face to the name :-) #NationalDEWeek2020 #celebrate #profession #disAbility #specialist #supports #capacitybuilding #educate #achieve
