24.01.2022 Foodbank research has revealed that Queenslanders who were already struggling before the pandemic are doing it even tougher and have now been joined by people who’ve never experienced hunger before. Charities are seeing significant numbers of two new groups seeking hunger relief: casual employees and international students. 24.01.2022 Happy World Egg Day! In 2020, almost 63,000kgs of eggs have left our warehouse to feed hungry Queenslanders. A big thank you to our generous egg donors who help us provide an essential source of protein, vitamins and nutrients to those who need it most. Our partners, like Sunny The Egg, are making such a positive difference to our communities. We couldn’t do what we do without you!

24.01.2022 At a recent Member Charity visit, we had the pleasure of meeting Camille and hearing her story. During COVID-19, the restaurants and cafés closed, so unfortunately, I lost my four jobs, Camille said. Camille never imagined that, when she came to Australia to study, a global pandemic would leave her jobless and unable to afford life’s necessities, miles away from home. Luckily, some of her friends told her about one of Foodbank Queensland’s Member Charities where she could r...eceive support. Camille was so inspired by the food relief charity that she began volunteering there once a week. Your donations help people like Camille receive the essential groceries they need to get back on their feet. Thank you for making a difference! 24.01.2022 Can you donate a dollar today to feed a Queenslander suffering from hunger? $1 can feed 2 people. Small actions add up to make a big difference for people who need it most. Donate today: https://bit.ly/2ZAEBUw

23.01.2022 Keeping her family safe leaves Rebecca struggling to feed them. Until a few months ago, Rebecca had always worked hard, holding down as many as three jobs at once to provide for her young family. But after escaping an abusive relationship, all of Rebecca’s energy needed to go into finding a new home and keeping her daughters safe. With her income drastically reduced, she soon struggled to cover rent and food. Without the food we have received, some weeks I wouldn’t have been able to send Zoe to school because there wouldn’t have been enough for her lunch each day. Especially since I’ve been sick, having the extra help means I know I’ve got everything I need and I can keep a roof over our heads. You can help people like Rebecca by making a donation to Foodbank today. https://bit.ly/2ZdCCoc

22.01.2022 Today, Foodbank Queensland is celebrating 25 years of fighting hunger in Queensland! Since our humble beginnings, we’ve sourced and rescued over 155 million kilograms of food, providing more than 252 million nutritious meals to Queenslanders experiencing hunger. A big thank you to all our wonderful supporters. We could not have achieved this incredible milestone without you!

22.01.2022 A little reminder that our friends at Sunny The Egg are continuing to match donations to Foodbank Queensland meaning, by donating today, you have the opportunity to help twice as many hungry people. If you make a donation of $50 today, Sunny Queen will also donate $50, and your total donation will be $100. You then enable Foodbank to turn this into 200 meals for hungry Queenslanders. Thank you to everyone who has supported the Hunger Drive this month. We simply couldn’t fight hunger without you! If you would like to show your support, you can donate directly here: https://bit.ly/2ZdCCoc

22.01.2022 The Foodbank team are so excited to see our digital billboards on display. Thanks to GOA Billboards these will be on display in and around Brisbane CBD until mid-October. Each week, the billboards will refresh to share a different message about hunger in Queensland - This week our billboard aims to raise awareness about the hunger crisis in Queensland. Thank you GOA for supporting us in the fight against hunger in Queensland.

21.01.2022 Have you ever seen a sweet potato this big? Foodbank Qld relies on generous food donations from farms, retailers and manufacturers. Sometimes, food donations are made when the item doesn’t look like you’d expect and might not sell at your local shop. Rather than see the food go to waste, Foodbank Qld are very happy to accept these foods and make sure they are provided to Queenslanders experiencing hunger across our Sunshine State. We think this Sweet Potato is the biggest we have ever seen! Thank you to Emmanuel from the Australasian African Aboriginal Association for being our model today.

20.01.2022 A real story of Queensland hunger It should have been the happiest of times, but instead Nicole found herself couch surfing with her three-month-old daughter and relying on extended family for enough to eat. The terrified first-time mum, 24, had to quickly escape her home when her partner became abusive. I don’t think I’ve ever been more depressed and anxious than I was then. I’m just so happy Foodbank exists. Thank you to Foodbank for giving me the opportunity to put a me...al on the table each night, Nicole said. With your support, we can ensure that people like Nicole receive the food they need to get back on their feet. Thank you, Nicole, for sharing your story!

11.01.2022 Sadly, many hungry Queenslanders choose not to access food relief due to embarrassment, shame or thinking there might be others in greater need. It’s important we remove the stigma around hunger in Queensland, and instead support and encourage others to seek the support they need. 08.01.2022 Sadly, almost one third of hungry Queenslanders are forced to go one whole day every week without eating, as they can’t afford to buy enough food. Queenslanders facing a hunger crisis will often skip meals to make sure they have enough food to feed their children, pets and any other family members. To ensure no Queenslander goes without, we need your help. For every $1 you donate, we can supply enough food for two nutritious meals to someone in crisis. Donate today! www.hungerdrive.org.au/

06.01.2022 Ben is one of Foodbank Qld’s 90 amazing volunteers. Ben joined the Foodbank family in June when COVID-19 struck, leaving the hospitality sector and many chefs like Ben without meaningful work. As part of our COVID policy, Ben conducts temperature checks on all Foodbank visitors and manages our very busy carpark. This includes welcoming member charity, food donors, staff and other volunteers, always with a smile and a kind word. Ben is now an integral part of Foodbank’s safety measures, working hard to keep everyone safe on-site. Thank you Ben for your hard work and efforts. We are so lucky to work with you!

But years of labour-intensive work have left him with a debilitating injury and he is unable to find employment until his health improves. I’ve been a worker all my life and my father taught me that it’s my responsibility to look after my family.
