24.01.2022 Taking advantage of the sunshine today and getting out into the garden. Miss E is very happy with the new potato plants a generous client dropped into work for us. Who doesn’t like fresh new potatoes! Yum!

23.01.2022 Just a reminder that as of tomorrow all clients will be asked to wear a mask while attending the clinic as per current health guidelines. Rest assured we are still open and will remain open as we are providing essential health care services to our local community. All staff are up to date with Covid19 infection control policies and we are continuing to ensure a safe and hygienic environment. If you have any concerns please don’t hesitate to contact us on 02 60245577.

23.01.2022 Here at Border Podiatry Centre we are working hard to keep everyone on their feet during this difficult time. If you're having any foot related issues please don't hesitate to call us and make an appointment. You can reach us on 60245577.

22.01.2022 And Victorian parents breathe a collective sigh of relief as it's time to go back to school (again)! With June 9 just around the corner it's time to get those school shoes out. Don't forget to check that they still fit. Quite often kids won't think to tell parents when their shoes are getting too tight and it's an easy thing to miss. Tight shoes can lead to a host of little issues that are much better avoided. At Border Podiatry Centre we're the experts when it comes to little feet so if you feel like your child would benefit from a check up please don't hesitate to call us on 60245577.

22.01.2022 Summer is over and the cooler weather has arrived. It’s now a great time to get those heels looked at if they’ve become cracked and rough. Call us on 60245577 to book an appointment.

22.01.2022 It's wound awareness week! One of the main types of wounds we see at Border Podiatry Centre are those related to Diabetes. If you have Diabetes you are more susceptible to developing pressure wounds or wounds that are slow to heal. As Podiatrists we are here to educate you in the best ways to prevent you from developing a wound, and as they say prevention is better than a cure. This is very true when it comes to wounds. Often if you make a few small changes you can consider...ably reduce the chances of developing an ulcer or a wound. Ask our team if you'd like to know more about how to keep your legs healthy and well and avoid developing nasty wounds.

22.01.2022 Important tips to keep in mind when buying new shoes for kids this coming summer: Shoes for your child need to be carefully fitted. They shouldn't be too long or too short. 1.5cm Is more than enough room to allow for growth. Any longer any they will be more inclined to stumble and trip. They should have a nice firm heel counter to support the foot. If you can find enclosed heel sandals for summer, they make great daycare shoes and are good for days where your child will ...be walking long distances. They need to be checked regularly for size. Every 8-12 weeks is a good rule of thumb. Often children won't tell you if their shoes are too tight. They need to have a fastening mechanism such as laces, a buckle or a velcro strap. While slip on shoes and thongs are handy, they cause the toes to claw and grip. Remember that poor fitting shoes can contribute to toe deformities, bunions, corns and callus later in life as well as muscle imbalances and flat feet. They can also make growing pains worse.

21.01.2022 TO OUR VALUED CLIENTS RE: COVID-19 As many of you are aware there are now confirmed cases of COVID-19 within Australia. We wanted to take this opportunity to update you on our clinic procedures that have been implemented in relation to the virus in our attempt to protect you and the community. Just as we have asked our own staff, we also request that you DO NOT attend our clinic if you...... Have travelled overseas in the past two weeks. Have have had contact with a person with a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19. Are suffering from a runny nose and sneezing, a cough or experiencing any breathing difficulties, shortness of breath, and/or a sore throat or fever. Please phone us as soon as possible if any of the above applies to you. We will be sure to reschedule your appointment to a suitable time when you are feeling well again. Nothing is more important than the health of those in our community. Whilst we have always had a strict hygiene policy in light of recent public health concerns we are taking extra precautions. Hand sanitiser is available on our reception counter top - please use on arrival and exit. Extra cleaning by staff is also taking place to ensure that high contact areas are disinfected frequently throughout the day. Your help in keeping everyone safe & healthy is greatly appreciated!

13.01.2022 Summer school holidays are soon coming to an end which means the kids will be getting back into school shoes again. It's a great time to get them fitted properly to ensure they're in the right size and shoe for them. A child's foot is constantly growing and changing. Between birth and the age of 4 feet double in length with growth of up to 10mm per year! So if it feels like your child is outgrowing their shoes long before they wear out, this is why! The most noticeable change...s to foot length occur between 9 and 11 years of age. Poorly fitting school shoes whether too big or too small can cause damage to a child's feet. That's why it's SO important to check shoe fit regularly. A couple of places you can go to have your child fitted by experts are The Athletes Foot and Evans Shoes. And of course if you have any concerns regarding your child's feet contact us at Border Podiatry Centre on 60245577.

01.01.2022 We're now half way through summer and many of us have been surviving in thongs for the last month or so. A certain percentage of people will be noticing some new aches and pains as a result. Tired feet, aching arches and heels...unfortunately thongs provide zero support for your feet and having to grip with every step you take wears your feet out. Podiatrist Charlotte Bodell says, she wouldn't recommend wearing thongs as your shoe for the day or while walking a lot. "I would ...say people should wear thongs for no longer than 20 minutes," she advises.Your toes are grabbing, your arch is overworked, and it can lead to pain, calluses on the apex of your toes and the balls of the feet." A great option over summer is a pair of thongs that have an arch support like Archies, Vionic or Orthaheel thongs. These brands all have arch support build in to the foot bed. for more options and ideas for supportive summer shoes click the link below. https://www.smh.com.au//when-your-rubber-thongs-break-buy-
