25.01.2022 Heres a little tip for you when it comes to lighting. Recently I helped a friend of mine when she purchased a new home. She wanted to created a warm, coastal look with lots of texture and interest. A basket style pendant would look lovely in the entry but the ceiling height wouldnt allow it. So we decided on installing it off-centre, above the entry console.... In order to do this without the cost of moving the lighting source, patching the ceiling and repainting, we used a fabric cord from the original light source and hooked it over a little hook we placed in the ceiling. Its a little hard to see in the pic but swipe and youll see what I did. This gives a lovely casual vibe and seriously cuts the cost and the headache of moving it completely! My mate Warren at @duckfat.com.au has a huge array of fabric cord styles and colours to choose from, and has helped out a load of my clients over the years! My fav for this little scenario is the linen. A beautiful pendant bouncing shadows on the walls, a textured rug and its a whole new look for this home.

25.01.2022 When I take on an interior design project, I like to really think about how the family will LIVE in the space, and design around them. As a mum of 3 boys myself, I’m always thinking of ways to keep things SUPER ORGANISED and STREAMLINED. Ways to keep things neat and tidy, and CLEAR of clutter. In this project I had handy, custom designed joinery for 2 Dysons (one on each level), custom joinery to hold glassware in the bar area, beautiful storage for shoes in the entry, and along with a LIST of other things, a drying cupboard - but OF COURSE!

25.01.2022 Teeny tiny property youre putting on the market? Buyers LOVE thinking about how they will entertain guests when considering your home. If you dont have the space to show potential buyers a big dining table for entertaining, make sure you take advantage of the outdoor areas and create an entertaining space here. ... Will be nice to actually entertain again one day wont it....

25.01.2022 HOUR OF POWER Styling Consultations SOLD OUT The next round will be mid October.... No bookings taken prior. Thank you! X See more

24.01.2022 With children often coming along to Opens it would be completely irresponsible of me to have open alcohol just lying around. So to conquer this, I drink the contents and then fill the bottle with water. Thats me, just taking one for the team for over a decade.

24.01.2022 Do you have high-backed dining chairs? Did you know swapping them out for a lower backed one, like these, can dramatically change the room? I swapped out a clients tall antique style dining chairs with these, and it honestly made the ceiling feel a metre higher! ... It opened up the space to that gorgeous garden beyond, and created a much more modern, streamlined feel to the home. Maybe something to try at home? See more

24.01.2022 Big shoutout to some wonderful suppliers that helped me pull this room together super quickly, ready to launch on the market! This client wanted to purchase new furniture, rather than hiring. Have you ever tried to buy furniture and accessories on a super quick timeframe during a pandemic! What time is it? I need a gin! ... Thank you to all of you tagged legends for pulling strings, finding stock and opening up on your day off!

23.01.2022 What do you do when you have a long narrow room at the top of the stairs? You set up a little ‘dorm room’! Plenty of space for all the cousins to come and stay in this epic beach house!

22.01.2022 Im always encouraging my clients to create a home that is truly reflective of them, and not whats on trend, or is rolling on a IG feed. I love using family heirlooms, sentimental pieces, childrens artwork or pre-loved furniture to tell a story. These are my good scissors, and my boys know they are definitely not for cutting up ANYTHING but fabric. ... They were my Nans. She brought them home from a trip to Italy in 1970. Growing up I knew not to touch them as well. Nan was a dressmaker and she made every wedding dress and ball gown for our large family and friends, and friends of friends. Every dress I ever owned was made by Nan. From little smocked dresses to my Deb dress to my 21st outfit. And every creation had her signature tag sewn in - Made with love by Nana. I love using them.

22.01.2022 I specified a million gazillion hooks in the laundry for this large family. Straight in from the beach, and everything can hang right here! #designforliving

20.01.2022 Kitchen details at my Ocean Grove reno project. Beautiful blackened iron pulls with leather braiding.

20.01.2022 Theres a buzz in Regional Vic tonight! Well done everyone! This little beauty styled today, giving me those holiday vibes. Whos booked a little getaway already?

19.01.2022 Oh the daytime sleep! From the vault, my littlest sleeping. Want to know how to create a beautiful bed, just like the magazines? Check out my insta stories today for some Q&A!

19.01.2022 Preparing your property for sale starts at the front door. Its the very first impression potential buyers get, so you need to give it some love! So heres some tips;... Pressure hose the entire front entry to remove dust and cobwebs. Touch up paintwork if required. Make sure the key unlocks smoothly, and the door opens without having to push it - buyers may arrive before the agent has unlocked and theres nothing worse than fiddling around trying to open up. Invest in a lovely THICK new door mat. Ill have a little tip on this in the coming days, but in the meantime always buy a large mat - especially in you have an oversized door. I like to flank the door with plants each side, or at least one side like this. Again, something substantial in size is best. Try this at home even if your not selling. No visitors as yet, but nice for the postie!

18.01.2022 Started the year off with a lot of training, and supposed to be on KOKODA right now. Instead Im on my 49th book, and Ive lost count of how many blocks of Fruit & Nut. #covid19

17.01.2022 Are you ready for it?...... Ikea! I kid you not.

17.01.2022 Oh. Em. Gee. I need some sunshine! Whos with me? All those past holidays I took for granted and now us Vicos have gotta stay put. A quick little trip up to Byron or Noosa would suit me fine just now. Instead I styled this poolhouse and pretended I was in my kini with wet hair and a drink in hand. ... Actual fact, I was in knitwear and a friggin mask on my face. See more

16.01.2022 I was fuelled by more than my usual coffee limit this morning and punched out this 3 bedroom, 3 living room property in 2 hours! Now Ive just signed off, knackered and planning just 2 things tonight: FIRE... RED WINE Why even bother online shopping? Are we ever going to socialise again?

15.01.2022 Here we are, mastering the awkward skinny room - slash - walkway. Did away with the chaise and the coffee table, and styled simply with side tables and ottoman. Hands up if youve got an annoying, weird shaped room to furnish

14.01.2022 Supposed to be checking in here right now for a beautiful weekend away.... All the sad emojis Bloody #covid19

14.01.2022 Removed the wall between a pokey ensuite and walk-in-robe to transform these rooms into one luxurious bathroom for my clients. Adding the slightly curved wall enabled us to integrate the storage mirrors seamlessly into the space. Out of shot is an enormous walk through shower, from one end of the room to the other.... 14.01.2022 Dropped in on this little design project Ive been working on. Sweet little Airbnb bathroom all coming together, ready for all of you to explore when this calamity finally ends. And if youve just become new parents you can definitely bath your baby in the basin. Its huge! Special love to Melbourne family and friends this weekend. This ones for you! Start planning.

13.01.2022 AT HOME STYLING TIP - Styling your dining and coffee table - I have so many clients that tell me they just don’t know how to put things together. ... Here’s 2 VERY SIMPLE TIPS to create a STYLED dining or coffee table; WORK IN ODD NUMBERS A great vignette can be achieved using an odd number of objects. An odd number creates interest, and is more effective at capturing your gaze. Using 3 objects is simple! Make sure they objects are of a similar theme - here I’ve used matt finished, organic looking pieces. Also, make sure you use objects of varying heights and shapes also - a large, medium and small - this will move the eye around the grouping. USE A TRAY Layering and placing the objects on a tray, board or platter can instantly elevate the look. It defines the collection and creates a more stylish look overall. I think starting with this makes it easier on you too, when you’re not sure what you’re doing! I always like to add some greenery too! Even if it’s just some gum or olive leaves from the garden. Have a play today and DM me a pic!

13.01.2022 Challenge accepted @temporaryinteriors #womensupportingwomen Helping another woman, cheering her on, and sharing resources with her does not take away from your own success and triumphs. In fact the more you give, the more you receive. ... Big love to all you beautiful, supportive women out there!

13.01.2022 I’m all about simple styling. Buy less, choose well, make it last.

11.01.2022 I swear every time they cross to Professor Sharon Lewin to discuss COVID19, I do a double take thinking theyre crossing to Shaynna Blaze at home! Anyone else with me?

10.01.2022 You just KNOW I installed a drying cupboard too don’t you! New bright, happy coastal laundry design for my client and her family. Design by ... Build by @l_b_building Photography by @nicstephensphotography See more

10.01.2022 Been a little MIA lately - just Meh - but look what I found for you today! A little DIY for you for the weekend! A beautiful water fountain made out of 3 simple fire pits. Voila! Off you go!

10.01.2022 So this is how we do a partial style. You know the story, youre selling but youre missing pieces and couldnt possibly market the house as it is! Youve got some furniture but need a nice big sofa and rug, or youve got a study but need to change it to a bedroom for the campaign. ... I can help you! Just like I helped out this client last week. This is the clients table but they didnt have any chairs. Guys, just LOOK how we NAILED matching our chairs to the existing table! And then we brought along a great console and art to the mix too! Best of all, you can live in the house with our glorious furniture whilst the campaign is in swing!

09.01.2022 So this was a tricky little fella I styled yesterday. The front door of the property leads into this room. It was used as an extra large entry, storage area but I really wanted to give this 4 bedroom home another living area to lift the profile. It was a tricky one to place furniture as I didnt have adequate wall space and had to deal with doors galore! ... The front door, 3 bedroom doors, laundry door and this large opening to the next room, all opened up into the space! I was originally planning the sofa the other way, with the console behind it to serve as a nice entry to the home but it just didnt work. I do love changing things up on the day though! What was a 3 bedroom, 1 living, 1 study home can now be marketed as a 4 bedroom, 2 living, sitting area/study.

09.01.2022 I love the versatility of an ottoman in a rumpus room! Pop your feet up on it, grab the nibbles and plonk them down with a tray, drag it across the room for extra seating or use it as a stage for a little solo performance (kiddies.... or mums gone wild on karaoke!) Ive been doing this gig for a long time now. Deja vu. This is the second time Ive styled this property.

08.01.2022 Regional Vic did a little happy dance yesterday, but my heart pangs for my Melbourne family and friends. Thinking of all of you unable to work and worrying about the future - not only those we hear about in hospitality, real estate or gyms - but the little sole traders that are mostly forgotten. The house cleaners unable to visit, the trophy makers that have lost an entire years earnings, and so many others.... A lifetime ago I owned a little chain of nail salons and I honestly cant imagine the stress of looking after those 14 staff and their families throughout this pandemic. Big love and strength to you all. I hope these beautiful sunrises each morning bring hope that were step closer each day. Itll come, and the connection and celebration will be better than ever!

08.01.2022 In the last 6 mths, throughout my client visits and consultations, I feel like I’ve been witnessing a real shift in the way people want to live. It feels like COVID19 has really made us stop. Stop and think about what’s important, and what we want to prioritise in the future. There’s been so many people taking this opportunity to declutter and spring clean their homes, and more and more I see the embarrassment on their faces at the sheer amount of ‘stuff’ they have. ... I feel like there’s a real shift in consumerism - just like we’re moving away from fast-fashion chains to more ethical, sustainable, local brands in the fashion world, there’s a move to upcycle and reuse what we already have at home. Just like I did with my Great-Grandmothers Pianola! In fact, I’ve never suggested chalk paint more in my life, than the past 6 mths! Just like in fashion, there’s something that makes you feel GOOD in your SOUL about moving away from ‘fast’ goods in large national stores, and SUPPORTING local manufacturers of quality furniture and homewares. AND I LOVE THAT! Who are the legends you know that are making furniture, homewares, lighting...? Give them a shout out please! Let’s support.

07.01.2022 Just going through some shots of this weeks styling jobs.... Not sure why I put this together with some vintage After Dinner Mints Remember those? Remember your Mum and Dad putting those out at a dinner party?... (Before you zoom in - just kidding! Little cute coasters, but dont they look like it! Been a big week already! )

07.01.2022 A little tip tonight for a TRICKY front ENTRY AREA. Were not all blessed with a huge, inviting entry foyer to the house. Sometimes its pokey, barely room for a console.... sometimes the door opens straight into the living space.... sometimes its all just a bit blah and boring! ... Over the years Ive found a round jute rug can completely lift a space! If you dont have a dedicated entry, and yours is part of the greater living space, a round jute rug can define the space and create a sense of arrival and an entry, inviting the guest to pause for a moment. If you have a narrow entry, and cant squeeze in a console, you can use a round rug (they come in all different sizes!) and pop a mirror and some hooks on the wall to create your entry space. Ta-Da! Best of all they are so CHEAP! Like UNDER $100 my friends! -Swipe for @spotlightstores Daisy rug down to $105, and @templeandwebster Natural Daisy Jute rug at $79

06.01.2022 This sweet little Newtown number SOLD quicker than you can say OH MY GOD, ITS SPRING TOMORROW! Honestly cant wait. Bring on the good news on Sunday Dan

06.01.2022 Planning a huge day of this tomorrow. Do you have something that just makes you feel as sense of Home? This blanket does it for me. It was my Mums and its beautiful, and thick, and heavy, and everything you want when youre snuggling up on the sofa.... I remember many times escaping to her house in the country, when I needed some Mum time, and snuggling on the couch under this - pregnant, sickness, hungover or just overwhelmed and tired. It was always the medicine I needed! Enjoy your weekend friends, take it in.

05.01.2022 Remember the days when the kids would run in from school? Now my house is a constant homeschooling shambles. Two kids on the dining table, one on a trestle table in the entry because hey, its not like we need to open the front door to guests. ... My husband took over my office in March with his ugly ergonomic chair on wheels and its chopping up my wool carpet. I cannot keep up with the food!!!! I dont even know where to put myself! Whos with me? Tell me your woes. Are we in this together?

04.01.2022 BEFORE & AFTER - Master Bedroom During the renovation, I added V-groove panelling to the wall, additional wardrobe and concealed the split system, new loop pile wool carpet, sheer curtains throughout, and repainted in Dulux Natural White. 03.01.2022 - Last Covid round, amongst other things, we discussed how to style an entry console - Who wants more SIMPLE TIPS and BAD DRAWINGS to get you through Covid? Give me a YAY or NAY please.....

02.01.2022 I feel ya buddy. #iso

02.01.2022 Here I am using those round jute rugs again to create a little something in this dead end hallway. Such a versatile goodie for your entry, bathroom or to ground a single armchair in a corner like this.

02.01.2022 A lovely little situation today in the home of an Hour of Power client. I visited the Macedon Ranges today for client visits: - One client is planning to launch her property on the spring market and needed advice on how to present it, and what furniture she could buy now, but also utilise in the new home. We discussed different furniture placement in the main living and she said shed tried many ways .... but not the way I suggested. Cant WAIT to see this one evolve! ... - Another client needed help with a new kitchen reno, and which walls to knock out, what rooms could be used for, and how to furnish them... ( Just quietly they might be downing a bottle of wine right now, or more!) - And another client, that has brought up young children in their home of 12 years, now need an update and new furniture. Heads spinning there too I imagine, but a full list with floor planning and furniture placement for many living areas, a totally inexpensive update for floor tiles (no, not painting!) and a wine room for the husband - everyones a winner! Just part of what can be discussed and solved in an Hour of Power! Now, wheres the wine...

02.01.2022 So I’ve had a gazillion messages about the little styling tips video my husband did last week. I told him maybe he should do more (seriously the most activity on my account ever! BLOODY HELL, you all LOVED it!) He considered it.... Until we saw the look on our sons face. Sheer HORROR I tell you. Happy weekend friends. A little something from one of the mountain of installs carried out this week. I’m dead.

02.01.2022 Holy moly look at this kitchen! I had a play around today preparing this beauty for market. These perfect stools were carefully selected to simply compliment the lovely herringbone floors, and allow the kitchen to be the star of the show.

02.01.2022 Oh Im pining for long lunches and dinners at home (or out for that matter! ) with all my favourite people one day soon. But mostly Im looking forward to HUGS. Im such a hugger and kisser. Feels just so weird doesnt it?

02.01.2022 Bravo to architects that consider light and storage high on the priority list for a family home! Check out this sun filled hallway, complete with kids study area and oodles of storage. A little Newtown gem installed today!

02.01.2022 Sunday night and feeling acutely aware of how bloody lucky we are to live in this country. Sure, were all going through a crappy time right now (none more than our Melb friends ) but over this next 6 weeks weve got the chance to embrace some slow time. You know that TIME that weve ALL wished we had now and then. ... Slow time, to spend with the kids, read books, sort out all your photos, get fit, try new recipes, ring friends for a proper chat, watch movies, finally get projects done, work on your house, learn a new skill, get creative, make a meal for someone struggling......whatever it is that makes you happy! Im definitely going to sort through old photos and finally get a gallery wall going! (Also planning on not so much Cadburys Fruit and Nut this time round ...) Whats on your list of things you never had TIME for?

02.01.2022 SPRING IS COMING And so are all the good things! HOLD ON FRIENDS!

01.01.2022 Well, I didn’t get it done in all that spare time at home over Covid, but I finally got my linen cupboard sorted! Every sized bed linen and towels sorted into separate baskets. I’d be feeling super proud of myself if I wasn’t two baskets short. Did you get your Covid jobs list done?
