24.01.2022 Shawl finally finished. Started with purchasing 8 balls of wool from a garage sale with no wrappers. Loved the colour!! Elva Fitzell!! It sat with other wool for over 12 months because I didn’t know what to do with it. Finally took the plunge and tried out size 5.5 needles. Ok. The tension and look were perfect. So what next? Oh well just knit a scarf! So I cast on what I thought and the slowly growing scarf went with me across Central Australia return with one snag. I lost a... needle in the first 3 days! Found a set at St Vinnies when returning through Bourke about 10 days later! Better late than never they say. Started up again. Finished it off I’ve the last four weeks while watching TV and because it is wider than a scarf I made it into a shawl and added the fringes. I had a downloaded pattern for some cute fingerless gloves so, bingo, made up a pair while I still remembered which needles went with the wool. Finished size works really well. 128x48cm. Fringe 20 cm. Could do with any wool and needles if achieving this finished size. Done!!

23.01.2022 Life is like a fireworks show. We sometimes experience most explosive bursts of vibrant colour that radiate out through our being and our life. These are the high points of our lives that we remember and relive for the rest of our lives. At other times we go through decreasing amounts of joy and playfulness, as colours soften and fade. Mists come and rain my obscure the show. Without that mellowing the new burst will not be as evident. When the next combination of colours a...Continue reading

18.01.2022 Forced isolation has some benefits. Here I begin a runner using antique tatting.

17.01.2022 First stay at home project March 2020: making a permanent camisole for my model. Made from old curtain fabric overlaid with pieces cut from a second hand blouse. Necklace is for sale.

12.01.2022 360 degrees view from the top.

11.01.2022 The ‘bare’ tree. Every year I put together my bear tree. It begins with Doug’s work getting one off the hill and into a pot. We don’t cut one unless it needs to come out to make room for another tree. Then there’s the usual decorating... and the bears! All with some Christmas hat or other. Each year I buy one more. Here is my effort for today.

10.01.2022 This year I made an Advent calendar from a pack. First I worked out how the pieces went together and then hours in two stages and dried. Two coats of undercoat later I used the red and green paint that I’m painting our verandah railings with to give it a top coat. Then I had to assemble the 25 boxes and I covered them with scrapbooking paper. A few stick on numbers and voila! What do I put in the boxes?

07.01.2022 Latest holiday creation: to use a set of fabric samples for ‘something’.

07.01.2022 The next project is to paint a mural on our water tank. Ummm. Step one pressure clean! Nice view from the top.

04.01.2022 Renewal of little lion. I had a leather-look lion whose ‘look’ was peeling off so I wondered if the rest of this strange ‘stuff’ could be gotten off. A fine comb did the trick and what a wonderful little fellow is underneath!!!

03.01.2022 Seems I can also paint on canvas! What a hoot! Still using left over acrylic house paints and the theme of the tank!!

01.01.2022 My second painting inspired by my own hens and roosters.
