20.01.2022 Hey I am Lydia from For ABEL photography- The Barossa’s Story teller. I thought it was time to do a bit of an intro on here, since I have some new followers! I am a mum of 3, wife to a farmer and a photographer based in the beautiful Barossa Valley! I started forABELphotography ten years ago this October! Eeeek where has that time gone????... I was an Admin Assistant, when I started forABEL predominantly focused on Landscape images, fell pregnant & decided I would continue on with my business after my first boy was born 9 years ago, determined never to work for someone else as an employee again! It was shortly after this in 2011, I leaped hesitantly into portraiture after encouragement from people around me and then became a contract photographer in 2016 for the Australian Breastfeeding Project, that cemented for me, my confidence in what I do, that I have a skill that is relatively sort after. Now, 3 kids deep, our family is done and We decided this year...was our "leap" year...OUR year to grow and show why we’ve been doing what we have, for so long! Insert Brand Rejig here! Photography (obviously) but story telling through our work, keeping it local, keeping it sustainable, keeping it real and telling ours and other people’s story’s through images! So why The Barossa’s Story Teller, Not only has it been my photography style for 10 years, my business name like so many, has its own story. (I don’t often tell the whole story, particularly in person as i can’t do it with out crying!) My brother Abel, left this world a few days before his 3rd birthday, when unknowingly he ran out from the yard after his hero, my dad, as he was moving his car out of the driveway, tragically he died in my fathers arms that day. He would have been 40 this year. He walked this earth before I did & I never got the chance to meet him...yet. We only have a handful of photos of his memory, that is why photos and photography play such a huge part in my life, my business & my story, it is where my passion comes from, I want to tell everyone else’s story, because in the end we never know our future but...through photography I can document memories, captured forever! Their story is pretty amazing I have personally watched them grow, from a car port Brewery to this amazing set up! It's amazing do yourself a favour and get along to it! The passion they have is undeniable!

I absolutely love getting mum and dad to have a little smooch, go on lay one on her get in there (lmao) are often words you’ll here in your shoots ...don’t worry guys I’m not a weirdo! (Well I kinda am, isn’t every one?) I love the funny reactions you get from the kids (like ewwww gross mum and dad ) I love the natural connection shots you can get and just quietly I love seeing mums and dads connect again, we are so busy in these lives of ours... we sometimes let the simple things slide by the way side. When you have a session with me, I will always wanna create connection and emotion in the memories I create for you, so yes it is more than likely I will ask you to smooch, go on I know you’ll want to! I remember a specific day, driving in the car, just an ordinary day, driving on a road we had driven on a million times before when I suddenly I noticed the hills in my forefront moving against the hills in the background, almost like they were running along with us. It was a profound sensation like I had just woken from a dream in which I was watching my life fr...om this side of a TV! It's images like these that remind you, that the world we live in is omni-dimensional, never-ending, we all must stop and remind ourselves of this fact! We are here... now!

02.01.2022 I often find myself being asked, how do you do it all? Most days I’m not sure myself, the one thing I am sure on, I don’t do it alone! But I always feel so alone in the calm when anxiety and stress kick in...and that’s normally at 3am! When I have walked past my office, my computer on my way to the toilet. Then it’s always when I crawl back into bed, that the to do list starts writing itself in my head and that beast starts rearing it’s ugly head! ... Then the self doubt creeps in! So I will often get up And have a drink of water, grab a pen and paper and brain dump so I can get back to sleep!
