25.01.2022 The big XE made it to Toowoomba for the Qld. Title defence. Sadly the weather intervened, dumping much needed rain to the Darling Downs and basically the whole South East corner. The event was cancelled earlier today. Probably lucky for the gang as the new engine had a head gasket issue that was confirmed at the track on Friday morning. Luck was in and the local auto parts store had a head gasket in stock and Q1 was repaired in short time and ready for battle. But as mentioned, rain beat everyone. Next event for the car is the Kings Royal next weekend.

24.01.2022 This self isolation isn’t so bad.

24.01.2022 'working' holiday is just about over. Here is a short clip from the dyno session on q1 before the rained out title meeting. Speakers up and enjoy the sweet sounds of the crossflow on the 'Nugget Garage' hub dyno. https://youtu.be/Ah05EyE4A2Q

22.01.2022 Pretty chuffed tonight. When I started this business, never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I'd be sending parts to the United States of America. The world truly is shrinking.

21.01.2022 ‘Why don’t you just put a Barra in it’? ‘Why don’t you just put an LS in it - it will be cheaper and make more power’ This is stuff I hear all the time. Reality is not all of us want to be sheep and take the easy road. I doubt I’ll ever have the privilege of screwing together another customer crossflow as tuff as this. But if you want the best of the best, well you just gotta dig deep. ... I can’t understate how this is truly a privilege to make someone’s dream become a reality. Look at the photos and just start adding the dollars. But this engine is more than that. It’s what the customer wants to do. He knows it costs money and he has worked hard and is happy to pay. A rare occurrence in these times. Again truly a privilege and this will be one crossflow not to be messed with.

21.01.2022 Thanks David Clarkson for getting this custom piece started. Anyone else like ‘billet’ stuff? Fait bit of machining still to go. Any guesses as to what it’s going to be?

20.01.2022 That’s one very expensive oil bath, but if you want the best - you pay. Isky quality.

18.01.2022 Made it to Brisbane safely. Time to head over to Clarko's race central and then off to Archerfield for night one of the twin city challenge. In the mean time, check out this cool video from the recent Sydney event. Very good quality vid and shows why I love modified Sedan racing so much.

17.01.2022 Love it when customers send me photos of their cars/projects and fitting my components. Very rewarding part of the job. Thanks Dean for allowing me to share your photos. One very nice cortina.

16.01.2022 Some awesome Aussiespeed performance products from Mark Monopoli for a very cool car coming into the shed shortly. This is going to be an epic build, tidying and putting on the final touches on what is already a pretty solid package. Stay tuned for further pics and details.

14.01.2022 Back home after a busy break that ended up a fraction longer than expected. All was not lost as it gave me the opportunity to go to night one of the Kings Royal in Kingaroy. Got to witness this amazing heat race in person. Why is it so special? Why am I pumped about a heat we didn’t win (although we set the quickest time)? Well the answer is simple. The 2 carby cars simply drive away from the FGX. Yep a Chrysler Centura and an Xe Falcon, both pushrod carby cars, drove aw...ay from an FGX. Now the FGX is no slouch. He won every heat he was in, bar this one and qualified at the very front of the A main. Goes to show that you don’t need the latest and greatest. Just talent, a well set up car and a decent amount of stick. Anyway, enough gibber jabber. Sound up and enjoy the video. More to come.

12.01.2022 Well certainly some interesting guesses. But here is the answer. Custom fan shroud to suit customers 3 core ally radiator. Re-jigged my usual style so that the main plate that holds the fans can be easily removed without removing the actual radiator. Something you don't get with an eBay shroud. Why bother? Well when your running solid roller or solid flat tappet, it's nice to be able to get to the crank centre bolt without having to turn yourself inside out. ... Main plate still needs some nice bead rolls in it and obviously holes for the fans but it's getting there. Big thanks to Matty Deo from Cairns City Rods and Kustoms for the tig welding. Old eyes, unsteady hands and thin Chinese ally don't play well together. So thanks mate.

12.01.2022 Shroud all finished up, except for paint. Swapped out the usual Maradyne fan for a SPAL unit to give valuable clearance. Not much room in TC-TD Cortina when you go to a 3 core radiator. Spal unit is still rated to 1300 odd cfm so not a great loss. This is where you begin to see the benefits of the rev kit with the shortened waterpump snout and lower alternator position. I did a video to show the suction force from the fan/shroud set up. As soon as I work out how to beep out an expletive I dropped, I'll post the vid up.

10.01.2022 Yep it’s been a bit of a busy time and I’m still here plugging away, because sole trader. Thanks to everyone that has ordered products and for your patience as I try and keep up with demand. I’m flat out on a big build, which I’ll try and share some photos of in the coming days, and I’m squeezing in these products while I can. Again I appreciate your patience and support. Time to get all this lot assembled into products ready to ship.

10.01.2022 Been awhile since I used the tig. Not bad for a half blind old fella with the shakes

10.01.2022 One of my favourite parts of the job. Hardly feels like work really, touching all these quality parts. Isky and Ferrea for the win. 'Blueprint' cylinder head assembly. All installed heights measured. All springs run through the tester and nose and seat pressures verified to ensure every cylinder is the same. Retainer to seal clearance measured. This is where quality machining and parts shine. Yep it takes time, but doing a proper job always does. The reward comes when the head gives gears of trouble free service.

07.01.2022 Ever wondered what it’s like from inside the car? Well wonder no more. Sit back and enjoy the in-car footage of the mighty XE and Centura as they battle it out. This view gives a very different perspective of the heat race. Enjoy.

07.01.2022 It’s the little details that make the difference. No factory ball bearing blocker for this engine. Everything else is custom so why not.

06.01.2022 But what did it run? I've been reluctant to give an answer to this question in respect to Ritchie. Couple of reasons. ... Primarily because the car was built for fun and wasn't supposed to be an all out drag strip weapon. Secondly - we were battling a miss up top which was adversely effecting the whole run, but in particular the 60 foot. I wasn't going to share any times, but now I've discovered the true cause of miss I'm happy to share. As you can see the time it isn't to shabby. Especially considering it was done in the altitude of Springmount, in terrible heat and on 5 cylinders. See when we do customer stuff we always replace the inserts on the heads. This being a bit of a test head and being my own we didn't do that. Bad mistake. The cause of the miss was a dropped insert and we are very lucky that the head of the valve stayed on. I never get too hungry on PTV clearance and it has paid off in this instance. Am I excited to see what it runs next time out on 6 cylinders? Hell yeah. Am I keen to see if the compression increase and addition of the Aussiespeed intake spacer build valuable torque? Most definitely. Is Cam's work exemplary in turning a damaged head into a weapon again. Yes yes yes. Bring on the drag strip re-opening in March!!!!

04.01.2022 The last job of 2019 (and the decade) done. How good does the shroud and radiator look it Satin Black? The shed is all locked up, the alarms and cameras are on and I'm off to Brissy for a bit of a break and to help the boys try to defend the Q1 plate. Hope you and your family have a happy and safe new year.

04.01.2022 Here is the A-main from the first night of the twin city challenge. Tim put the big XE straight into the A-main and was able to move forward. We still have some work to do but pretty happy considering that this was the first time for Tim and the car at Archerfield so we had zero data to rely on. Enjoy. https://youtu.be/P2gb8c1nCDM

02.01.2022 Few photos of the rad and shroud all assembled. Very proud of this product. Struggled to get a good photo of it and as a result the photos don't do it justice. Will suit the awesome car it's going in. It's locked and loaded ready for personal delivery to one of my Brisbane based customers.
