19.01.2022 A good, but slightly rusty return to baseball for the Fighters today against the Seasiders Eagles. We started strong with a big 4 run first inning, but couldn’t sustain the pressure with 2 of the next 3 innings going scoreless. Not the big win we all wanted, but we didn’t exactly lose either, with a very un-baseball like tie, at 6-6. Big shout outs to James and Hillsy for excellent debut games (Hillsy will hit one to the parking lot before season’s end - you heard it here first). MVP has to go to David Norris who contributed 2 hits & 2 RBI with a run scored and 2 innings pitched with 3 strikeouts and no earned runs. Go Fighters!

16.01.2022 IMPORTANT INFORMATION: We need to urgently agree to pay for umpires this season. There are 11 games all up and it works out to be around $65 per game to have the umpire. So depending on our team numbers will depend on how much we pay per person.... Can you please reply back ASAP if you are happy to have paid umpires. Otherwise you have to umpire yourself... (Also please register if you haven't already.)

13.01.2022 In a game that seemed closer than it should have been, your Forest Fighters used a 4th inning surge to beat the Pittwater Dodgers 5-1. Pitching was the story of the day as David Norris and Chris Layman dominated an overmatched Pittwater lineup, scattering 2 hits and striking out 12 over 6 innings without allowing an earned run. In fact, as the Fighters extended their unbeaten streak to 18 games, the pitching staff’s team ERA still sits at 0.00. Lots of candidates for MVP this week, including our pitchers’ hitting and a fine performance from a certain 49 year old 2nd baseman - but it’s going to have to go to Gordon Hooper for the impressive line of 2-2 with a double, run scored, stolen base, a hit by pitch - and a nifty catch in center field. Well done Fighters. And to think we haven’t even reached our peak yet!

02.01.2022 Big win for the Forest Fighters today as we extended our unbeaten streak to 17. The Forest Padres could only manage 2 hits off of the impressive pitching trio of Chris Layman, Will DeLaine and Dave Norris who shut the door on their last attempt at a rally. Big shout outs to James Meiklejohn for his first ever hit and run scored, Will’s two no-hit innings and Josh Tanno picking off a baserunner. Masahiro Tahide also stole 3 bases to up his season total to 6! MVP has to go to Chris Layman however for 2 innings pitched with no earned runs and two strikeouts, along with 2 hits, 2 runs, 3 RBIs, 3 stolen bases - and a very nifty catch at 3rd to clinch the game. Well done Fighters! We’re just getting warmed up.
