25.01.2022 Installing a pollinators delight....enhancing remnant rainforest connectivity for the Tamborine Mtn Richmond Birdwing Butterfly Project. 500 trees installed this week after rain. Heres hoping for some more

25.01.2022 Today we finished an epic project working on the Old Quarry Wall cliffs at Fingal Head. Special thanks to our safety officer Amy who was constantly helping to rig new lines and also to our wonderful photographer Katie who has taken some great captures. Showing the struggle of working on steep sand topped basalt cliffs and treating weeds in very tricky circumstances.

25.01.2022 Epic day today. We joined forces with Steve Orchard from Sniffers Group to help landowners remove unwanted trees and in turn recycle the timber. Tony from GDE tree services precisely felled large Camphor Laurel around rare flagged plants. Great work guys... sensitive removal success A big day also continuing riparian maintenance in Currumbin. A few months ago we planted 337 plants to help reestablish native cover. The creek is starting to progress well with macrophyte and ferns and next gradual removal of exotic grasses.

25.01.2022 It is so important to protect our Endangered Ecological Communities. Today we were greeted with Spoonbills, a low flying Wedgetailed Eagle and a huge range of other bird species. We are protecting this site with careful work and a scientific/intuitive approach to leave some structural weeds for stability. We anticipate that when the rains arrive they may cause flooding. This is due to the erratic weather patterns we are getting as a direct result of climate change.

24.01.2022 It was a wet misty day on Tamborine Mtn. Perfect for planting the rare Birdwood Butterfly Vine at The Shelf Rd reserve. We installed the remaining 210 vines with leaders and found 2 Butterfly larvae feeding on the last planted vines. Its great to be helping on such a meaningful conservation project. Thanks Tamborine Mtn Landcare for creating The Richmond Birdwing Butterfoy Project and SRRC for ongoing support.... Meeting the scientific objectives of this 3 yr project with providing a food source for the rare buttetfly... and we are only halfway

23.01.2022 Thunder egg mystery revealed after much anticipation.... we found this on a site and with permission... investigated further... The stone is made up of Agate and Jasper inside with calcium carbonate coating suggesting marine submursion from higher sea levels post the last ice age when things warmed back up approx. 18,000 years ago. Thanks Gold Coast Lapidiary club for the cutting and confirmation.

23.01.2022 We sometimes get called extreme gardeners and this is justified. Adding some finishing touches to riparian maintenance and abseil gorge work today at the Guanaba Indigenous Protected Area. This enabled us to comprehensively treat priority vine weeds encroaching the canopy edges. We love our sites... every inch of them

23.01.2022 All specimens were flowering today loving the recent rainfall. Straggly Pencil Orchid Dockrillia bowmanii... and plenty of friends

23.01.2022 It has been a busy first year for the Tamborine Mountain Richmond Birdwing Butterfly Project. We have installed 2224 plants and recenty some tree guards donated by Healthy Land & Water. Thanks again to The Belong Team of Skilling Queensland Conservation & Land Management Trainees for helping with some preparation and planting. Also thanks go to The Mountain Man and our crew for assisting as volunteers.... This site is 11.5 hectares in size and will provide a fantastic refuge and habitat for the local native flora and fauna. It also has excellent connectivity to other National Parks and conservation areas.

14.01.2022 This is a great example of positive collaboration and what can be achieved. The private landowner, funded by City of Gold Coast Land for Wildlife has done epic work to help remove rubbish and clean up a hoarders collection through endangered dry rainforest. We have worked together for 3 years to restore one of the most challenging sites I have encountered. Insane steep terrain combined with some of the most difficult to control weeds including Madeira Vine, Syngonium, Creep...ing Inch Plant, Blue Morning Glory, Mother in Law Tongue, Singapore Daisy, and more. We have saved this rare habitat for the future and protected the beautiful Currumbin Creek catchment. Well done team!
