25.01.2022 Equestrian Victoria advise that the DHHS (Department of Health & Human Services) have now updated their advice regarding horse riding for those who are under ST...AGE 4 RESTRICTIONS. This most recent advice supersedes any previous advice. DHHS STATEMENT You are unable to leave your home for the purpose of riding your horse. You may ride your horse if you are home on your own property. The DHHS have stated: Outdoor recreational activities like horse riding are not a permitted reason to leave home. If you are at home, on your property, you can ride your horse. Exercise is limited to a maximum of one hour per day and no more than 5km from your home. PROVIDING CARE The RSPCA advise that you must still care (feed, water, shelter, vet) for your horse as needed while maintaining social distancing and, where required, minimising travel. If you do need to leave home to attend to your animals you should comply with the public gathering requirements, implement sensible biosecurity arrangements and practice good hygiene, including hand hygiene before and after handling animals and their equipment, bedding or food. DHHS https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/sport-and-exercise-metropolitan DHHS CORONOVIRUS HOTLINE 1800 675 398 RSPCA https://kb.rspca.org.au//how-can-i-ensure-my-horses-welfa/ These are difficult times for all of us, but we are committed to ensuring the health and safety of our members and community. Please take care of your family, friends and equines and stay safe. #staysafe #lovethehorse

25.01.2022 Miko. Approx 12hh, 4 year old welsh gelding. A good mate, Sarah Kearvell from Equine Perceptions started him, but she came to the conclusion that she is to tall to ride him. So my short arse will continue his ridden education here at Forest View. Miko will be available for sale after he is broken in with exposure.

24.01.2022 Carrie Ramsey bought then 5 year old Saroca directly off the track on January 1, 2017, about three weeks after her last of 18 mostly unsuccessful starts. These ...photos are from August of 2020, three and a half years later. At 8, many of the things that were not able to happen are beginning to happen, not only with the mare, but also with the rider. The prevailing idea that there is any sort of time line for the development of horses and riders has messed up far more horses and riders than it has helped. Some take a year, others any number of years, and while human beings have created things like "junior riders," "young riders," makeover projects," "5/6/7 year old classes," and other time related concepts, any real horse person knows that those are commercially based ideas, and not how it actually works. "Drinking the Kool-Aid" is what we call buying into some scheme or belief system, and while many humans love the often false sense of security that a system may promise, time based systems deny the reality that sometimes it takes as long as it takes. https://www.pedigreequery.com/saroca3

20.01.2022 Soft tissue mobilisation is believed to increase blood flow, promote muscle relaxation and increase suppleness. Equine massage has been used to improve lymph drainage, reduce stress levels and enhance pain tolerance in existing injuries. Sarah spent over a good hour with Bridie yesterday, she will be back every 3 weeks until we can see and feel improvement. #ResetProgram

13.01.2022 COACHING UPDATE Equestrian Victoria is still awaiting formal government advice re travel and care for horses under COVID-19 Stage 3 and Stage 4 Restrictions. ...We will update our community as soon as that advice is formalised. In the meantime, please be aware of the following for COACHES. COACHING STAGE 4: From 11:59 PM on Wednesday 5 August, coaches and trainers resident in Stage 4 must work from home and use online and video conferencing facilities to deliver their coaching and training. You should not travel further than you need to, and you should horse ride at the closest available location to your home. * Those receiving instruction should NOT travel outside their local area nor travel distances for coaching. 12.01.2022 Welcome to Forest View Thoroughbreds. We have a small but dedicated team of experienced horse people who can assist you with the re-training or placement of one of our off the track horses. We are a self funded OTT re-programming establishment who take pride in producing quality mounts suitable for a variety of disciplines. We specialise in - Re-training for thoroughbreds and all breeds, - Bring back to work after a spell, injury or pregnancy ... - Ground work - Re-education and problem solving - Riding Lessons with Qualified NCAS riding coach who has over 15 years of private, group lessons including Chief Instructor at our Local Pony Club. - Short Term agistment - 24 hour onsite supervision Each horse comes directly from the horse trainer or horse owner who can reliably supply us with background information from every horse we receive, including: soundness issues, vices, quirks, feeding and nutrition requirements etc. Once in our care, we will determine an appropriate spelling period and feeding regime, allowing the horse to fully let down before we begin our re-programming. All horses undergo a ground and ridden assessment. Our programme is designed to release all the pressure they have absorbed during racing, to produce a relaxed, willing, happy, confident horse for future riding. We are a Racing Victoria Acknowledged Re-Trainer. Catering also for short term agistment, for when you are away on vacation, we will deliver to all of your horses requirements, your horse can be worked while you are away upon your request. Our facilities include : Private paddocks with box and shade trees, communal paddock with shade trees, ample float parking, fenced 22m x 44m arena, round yard, hot wash, beautiful riding throughout the Bunyip Forest, only kms away from Mt. Cannibal and Tonimbuk Equestrian Facilities. Inspection Welcome by appointment. Follow each horses progress on Facebook....Forest View Thoroughbreds Off The Track Education & Rehoming. 10.01.2022 I understand some of my clients are very eager to come and view a few thoroughbreds here at Forest View. Sadly we are still closed due to stage 4 restrictions. It is tough for all of us right now and I promise you will get the opportunity to come out, I just have no idea when! Finding the best of homes for my Thoroughbreds is my priority! ... Thanks for being patient.

10.01.2022 She is smart, She is cute, she is cheeky. KB has come along way in 1 week.

09.01.2022 #RESETProgram Boring old flat work with Bridie. His program requires lots of long, straight, stretching, exercises under saddle to help build and strengthen certain muscles. Working alongside Sarah from SC Equine Massage Services, we have a program to suit Bridie.

09.01.2022 Harry, 5 year old gelding at only 15hh he is one of the kindest little thoroughbreds I have the pleasure to work with.

09.01.2022 He's a special young horse, a stable favourite while he raced and its the same here with Jemma who had her first ride on Harry over the weekend.

07.01.2022 Its a stand off, Harry has taken Kashs spot in front of the fire

07.01.2022 Theyre out there by the dozens, by the hundreds, by, literally, the thousands, geldings and the less than well bred mares for whom the thoroughbred industry ha...s no further use after their racing days are over. And hidden inside some of them, even the plain ones who couldnt win a race, is a gift of athletic ability so striking as to be almost stunning to see. This one, Sunland Scott, that I bought from Norman Hall about 45 years ago, wound up at Madison Square Garden as an equitation horse--- You see those plain brown wrapper horses, and you just never know----

06.01.2022 Credit to @leann baldock what a fab read! The most commonly used phrase for anyone involved with horses come October 'he's a bit fresh.....' what the fuck? A b...it fresh evokes distant memories of the Spring and watching little lambs frolicking about in the field. That is a bit fresh. Yet we all use the exact phrase to describe our horses when they're being complete cocks. For most of this year I've passed a lady, riding her serene looking horse, in a snaffle, on the buckle around the lanes. She's smiling, horse is chilled. This last week, the same lady is looking as ruffled as a hens arse in a hurricane, shes clutching on for dear death to a horse that's got every single vein popping, a bit in its gob that'll make the pony patters ring PETA, taking off as each wayward acorn falls off the tree and shes shouting apologetically 'sorry he's a bit fresh' as cars attempt to pass this utter fuckery. All year Ru has been that chilled I've contemplated growing my balls, getting physio for my knee and pushing for our 2034 Badminton debut... Ru tonight, face planted me straight in the hay. Because of a fucking squirrel. Half a tonne of arsehole, freaking over a squirrel. That half a tonne of arsehole then done several laps of the field squealing and fly bucking. Over a squirrel. My neighbour says 'ooh he's a bit fresh'...be fresh fucking dog meat if he keeps on I said. My friend attempted a dressage test at the weekend. We had working gallop, rapid half pass over the flower pot and off we fucked out the area over an oak leaf...her response 'went a little wrong...he's a bit fresh '... Welcome to the season of chiffney bits, pelhams, broken dreams, tears, hay in your knickers (HOW) and muscle rub winter is fucking upon us. Enjoy. See more

04.01.2022 Headshaking Syndrome can be difficult to treat, it is a medical condition were the horse has uncontrollable and violent headshaking, rubbing of the nose outbursts. It can make them difficult to ride and handle and must not be mistaken for bad behaviour. The horse with symptoms cannot control these outbursts . Triggers for headshaking vary and as noted above very difficult to treat. The short video below is of Brightlight Boy who has HS.... He has recently had a diet change, limited pasture time, added a nose net while riding, added a fly veil to eliminate sunlight, changed his gear all of which have failed to help. Bridie will have a visit from a vet asap for a thorough check up starting with his teeth. We are trying to find a treatment suitable to give Bridie a better quality of life and hopefully a comfortable ridden career. It’s such a terrible condition and it’s great that it’s becoming more known as it means horses aren’t being deemed dangerous etc for no reason!!! **Edited to add magnesium oxide has been added to diet. #RESETProgram #rvoffthetrack
